The winner advances to a first-round matchup with the top-seeded Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA Playoffs. The loser has its season end.

Indiana advanced by whipping the Charlotte Hornets 144-117 at home on Tuesday night as a 1.5-point favorite. The Pacers have won four of their last six games.

Washington was forced into this elimination game by losing to the Celtics 118-100 on Tuesday night in Boston as a two-point underdog. The Wizards had finished the regular season with back-to-back wins.

The Pacers will again be without Caris LeVert, who was ruled out of Tuesday’s game because of NBA health and safety protocols. He must sit out at least 10 days.

LeVert averaged 20.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists in 35 games after being acquired from the Brooklyn Nets in a trade. He underwent cancer surgery on a kidney following the trade and before making his Pacers’ debut.

Malcolm Brodgon (strained right hamstring) and Edmond Sumner (bruised left knee) are both listed at questionable despite playing Tuesday night. Brodgon missed the last 10 regular-season games while Sumner sat out the last four.

Brodgon was sharp in his return with 16 points and eight assists in 21:20. Summer played 6:42 in seven minutes. In the regular season, he averaged 21.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.9 assists.

Aaron Holiday (right toe) also played Tuesday after missing the last four games of the regular season and will be available Thursday. Holiday logged 16:16 against the Hornets and had two points and five assists.

Jeremy Lamb (left knee) and Myles Turner (broken right foot) are both out after missing Thursday’s game as well the last 16 games in the regular season. Turner has resumed shooting but no timetable for a return has been established for either player.

Domantas Sabonis was listed as questionable Tuesday with a strained quadricep. Not only did he play but he shined, just missing a triple-double as he finished with 14 points, 21 rebounds and nine assists.

Beal Off Minutes Restriction for Washington

Wizards leading scorer Bradley Beal is no longer on a minutes restriction now that Washington is in the postseason. However, Beal is still clearly bothered by the strained left hamstring he sustained late in the regular season and was wearing four compression sleeves on it Tuesday night.

Beal had a team-high 22 points in 35:39 against the Celtics but did not look sharp. He made just 10 of 25 field goal attempts, including only one of six from three-point range.

However, Beal did have nine rebounds and six assists playing on one healthy leg.

In the regular season, Beal was second in the NBA in scoring with a 31.3 average.

Raul Neto returned to the starting lineup after sitting out the final two games of the regular season, but his impact was minimal. He failed to score in 17:22 while missing both shots from the field.
