It is win or go home when the No. 10-seed San Antonio Spurs visit the ninth-seeded Memphis Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m. ET Wednesday at the FedEx Forum as part of the Western Conference Play-In Tournament.

The winner of the game moves on to play at the loser of Wednesday’s other Western Conference game between the No. 7 Los Angeles Lakers and No. 8 Golden State Warriors for a berth in the NBA Playoffs. The loser’s season is over.

The Grizzlies (38-34 in the regular season) had their five-game winning streak snapped Sunday in a 113-101 loss to the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco as three-point underdogs in the regular-season finale. Memphis would have grabbed the No. 8 seed with a win.

The Spurs (33-39) are on a four-game losing streak, including falling to the Phoenix Suns 123-121 at home on Sunday as two-point underdogs. San Antonio has also lost 10 of 12.

Grizzlies Come Up Short

The loss on Sunday put the Grizzlies forced them into this elimination-game situation. Steph Curry was too much for Memphis as the Warriors star dropped 45 points in wrapping up the NBA scoring title.

Jonas Valanciunas led the Grizzlies with 29 points and 16 rebounds. That was his top scoring game since April 11. Valanciunas also notched his 49th double-double of a season in which he averaged 17.1 points and a team-high 12.5 rebounds.

Ja Morant wound up the regular season as the Grizzlies’ top scorer with a 19.1 average while also dishing out a team-best 7.4 assists. He had 16 points and nine assists Sunday.

Dillon Brooks added 18 points and six rebounds against the Warriors before fouling out and the Grizzlies missed him down the stretch. Brooks finished the regular season with a 17.2 scoring average.

The Grizzlies shot just 24.0% (6 of 25) from three-point range, though they did force the Warriors into 19 turnovers. Jaren Jackson Jr. had three steals.

Spurs Have Been Struggling

The Spurs are staggering into the playoffs, including Sunday’s loss when the Suns rested their starting backcourt of Devin Booker and Chris Paul. E’Twaun Moore’s three-pointer with 2.2 seconds left gave Phoenix the win.

DeMar DeRozan topped the Spurs with 23 points. He finished the regular season with a team-best 21.6 scoring average. DeRozan also dished out 6.9 assists a game, which also led the Spurs.

Jakob Poeltl had his 15th double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. He finished the regular season as the Spurs’ top board man with a 7.9 average.

Hopefully, Poeltl will remember to bring his uniform Wednesday.

The Suns held Dejounte Murray to just six points on 3-for-10 shooting. He had a fine regular season with averages of 15.7 points, 7.1 rebounds and 5.4 assists.

Grizz Won Season Series

The Grizzlies won the season series 2-1 in which the road team won all three games as underdogs.

The Spurs won 131-119 on Dec. 23, which was opening night, behind DeRozan’s 28 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. Morant had a career-high 44 points and six assists in a losing effort.

The Grizzlies won back-to-back games 129-112 on Jan. 30 and 133-102 on Feb. 1.

In the first game, DeAnthony Melton topped Memphis with 20 points off the bench and Morant had 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Two nights later, the Grizzlies got 19 points from reserve Gorgui Dieng and 11 points and 14 assists off the bench from Tyus Jones. Keldon Johnson had 25 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Spurs.
