  • The Warriors’ All-Star quintet looks championship caliber
  • Should you get in on Golden State’s season-best odds now?
  • Is anyone else in the West worth wagering on?

Well, thinking the NBA season was up for grabs for a bevy of teams was fun while it lasted.

We’re right back where we started: It’s Golden State’s world, and we’re just living in it.

The Warriors most recent tear – which reached nine straight wins after beating up on the Wizards Thursday night – has improved their odds of winning the 2019 NBA Championship to -200 across a number of top online sportsbooks.

2019 NBA Championship Odds

Team 2019 NBA Championship Odds (01/25/19)
Golden State Warriors -190
Toronto Raptors +650
Boston Celtics +950
Milwaukee Bucks +1100
Houston Rockets +1200

Warriors Shortest Odds Well Deserved

As a team, the Warriors have shown the full force of what they are capable of during this statement streak.

In their nine wins, they have scored no less than 112 points in a game, and have three games where they’ve topped 140. They’ve shot no worse than 45.5% from the field, making more than half their field goals in five games.

Only twice during this streak have they failed to make double-digit three pointers, making better than 14 the other seven games, including 20+ three times.

And in only a recent development, we’re finding out that DeMarcus Cousins is still really, really good at basketball.

Boogie has appeared in three games since returning from an Achilles injury, but the half-year rental is adding an inside power element with equally adept perimeter skills. For a roster already loaded with four All-Stars, trotting out a fifth is death.

Splash Brothers Leading the Way

Kevin Durant is the NBA’s reigning two-time Finals MVP and one of the top three basketball players on earth. And he’s basically taken a seat behind Steph Curry and Klay Thompson during this recent run.

Curry has been a flamethrower, becoming the first player in NBA history to nail at least eight three-pointers in three straight games. Over the course of the streak, he’s drilling a shade under six threes a night, leading the Dubs in scoring six times, and just commanding the game in so many other facets that he’s back to being a legit MVP candidate.

Perhaps the biggest resurgence has been Thompson rediscovering his stroke, leading the Warriors in scoring three other times, while setting his own NBA record, when he splashed 10 straight three-point attempts in a demolition of the Lakers.

What is the Best Bet Here?

The Warriors are in their own class, one above the small batch of title contenders. Even if GState can’t keep up the current clip, their odds fluctuation won’t be overly dramatic if they falter. But they could continue to shorten if the Dubs keep imposing their dominance on the league, so I wouldn’t blame you for jumping on them now.

Looking for value across the rest of the West? Good luck. I think Oklahoma City (+2200) could stand toe-to-toe with the Dubs in a seven-game series. If LeBron James gets healthy, the Lakers (+2300) might be in that mix too. But both are a risky investment and long shots to oust the NBA’s best on their march to a title.
