Arizona State will try to end its lengthy losing streak when it hosts California at 11pm ET Thursday in a Pac-12 game at Desert Financial Arena in Tempe.

Arizona State has lost six games in a row to fall to 4-8 overall and 1-5 in the Pac-12. The Sun Devils are also just 2-9-1 against the spread and last won Dec. 13 by one point over Grand Canyon. Despite the poor ATS record, Arizona State is favored.

Cal has dropped back-to-back games and been on the losing side against the spread in each of its last three games. The Golden Bears are 7-10 overall and 2-9 in the conference.

Arizona State Struggling

Arizona State was overmatched early in its last game, losing 80-67 at Arizona on Monday as a 4-point underdog.

The Sun Devils fell behind by double digits in the first three minutes, did not score in the first 6:30 and trailed 40-18 at halftime.

Arizona State missed its first 12 shots and went just 8-for25 (32%) in the first half, including only 1-of-12 (8.3%) from 3-point range.

Remy Martin was again a bright spot for Arizona State as he scored a game-high 24 points. The senior guard helped the Sun Devils cut the deficit to nine points in the second half, but they got no closer.

Martin is averaging 17.4 points and 4.2 assists a game, both team-leading figures. He has also scored at least 20 points in four of his 10 games this season.

Arizona held freshman guard Josh Christopher to five points on 1-of-8 shooting before he fouled out. That was one third of his 15.7 scoring average. Christopher is also posting 5.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals a game.

Sophomore forward Jalen Graham had his first double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, both career highs. He lifted his scoring average to 7.0 and is also blocking 2.0 shots a game.

Senior guard Alonzo Verge Jr. (14.6) and freshman forward Marcus Bagley (12.1) are also scoring in double digits.

Cal Gets Bradley Back

Cal lost to USC 76-68 on Saturday at home as an 8.5-point underdog but did get leading scorer Matt Bradley back from an ankle injury.

Bradley looked rusty, connecting on just 5-of-14 field goal attempts for 11 points in 24 minutes. The junior guard missed five straight games and seven of the previous nine.

Bradley is averaging 17.1 points a game and has gone over 20 in five of his 10 games. He also accounts for 33.4% of Cal’s offensive possessions and 35.2% of its shots.

Senior forward Grant Antecevich and sophomore guard Joel Brown each scored 15 points. It was a career high for Brown, who raised his season average to 5.8. Antecevich is scoring 10.7 points a game.

Senior guards Ryan Betley and Makale Foreman have 10.1 scoring averages.

Cal fell behind 15-4 against USC but eventually moved ahead 25-24 with five minutes left in the first half. That was the first of 20 lead changes before the Trojans pulled away in the final minute.

Rare ASU Bright Spot

Arizona State won at Cal 70-62 on Dec. 3 as a 6.5-point underdog, its lone conference victory this season and its sixth straight over the Bears.

Martin led the Sun Devils with 22 points and five assists and Christopher had 14 points. Bradley scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a losing effort.

Arizona State is last in the Pac-12 and Cal is next to last, so it should at least be an evenly matched game. That makes taking the points the play.
