The Creighton Bluejays will try to rebound from their first loss of the season when they return home on Friday to face the Nebraska Cornhuskers as 13.5-point favorites (7:00 pm ET).
Pegged at No. 8 in the AP Top 25 rankings, the Bluejays entered their date with the Jayhawks riding a five-game SU win streak that includes a 3-0 start to the current campaign. The Cornhuskers hit the road for the first time this season after dropping a 75-64 decision to Georgia Tech as 3-point underdogs on Wednesday. The defeat snapped a two-game SU win streak, and marked Nebraska’s 17th straight SU loss while sporting positive odds.
Here’s a look at the odds and trends ahead of Wednesday night’s matchup at CHI Health Center Omaha.

Bluejays Dominant on Home Hardwood
The Bluejays let a golden opportunity slip way in this week’s 73-72 loss to No.5 Kansas. Trailing by as many as 10 points in the second half, Creighton embarked on a late rally, but fell short of pulling even with the Jayhawks on a missed free throw with two seconds remaining.
What an ending 😳

Forced to settle for the ATS win as 3.5-point underdogs, Wednesday’s loss put the brakes Creighton’s five-game win streak, with each of those victories coming by wide double-digit margins. The loss is also the team’s fifth in 10 road games since the start of 2020. However, Creighton has been a force on home hardwood, however. The Bluejays have won 10 straight at CHI Health Center Omaha, covering on seven occasions. But the team has produced middling results as big home chalk, going 1-2 ATS in three early-season home dates as double-digit favorites.
Balanced Attack Generating Big First-Half Totals
Junior forward Christian Bishop has led the Bluejays attack, averaging 14.5 points per game, and recorded a season-high nine rebounds against the Jayhawks. Bishop is one of four Creighton starters averaging double-digits in points, joining guards Denzel Mahoney and Marcus Zegarowski, and forward Damien Jefferson.
Christian Bishop is a really good modern-day big man. He mobile and can switch on the perimeter while also physical and athletic enough to be a 5. He’s been absolutely huge for the Blue Jays in this one.

The balanced attack has not helped bettors cash in on the OVER, which has gone 2-2 to date. However, it has been key to the Bluejays solid first-half performances, with the team racking up 50 or more points before the half in three of four outings.
Huskers Struggling on the Road
Points have not come as easy for the Huskers, particularly as underdogs. Through its first five outings, Nebraska has averaged a 122nd-ranked 77.4 points per game, and sits at No.131 at Kenpom in Adjusted Offensive Efficiency. In addition to averaging just 66.5 points per game over their past nine road dates, the Huskers have suffered regular bitter disappointment when visiting Creighton. Nebraska has averaged just 63.5 points over eight straight road losses to the Bluejays since 2004, including seven defeats by double-digits.
And if those trends aren’t discouraging enough, don’t overlook the Huskers’ current 1-30 SU run on the road against Top 10-ranked opponents since 1997, with six of their most recent seven losses coming by at least 15 points.
Youngsters Show Promise
Of course, there are positives to consider in this Nebraska lineup. With last season’s leading scorers Hanif Cheatham and Dachon Burke Jr. both leaving the program, junior guard Teddy Allen and sophomore guard Delano Danton have stepped up. After topping 20 points twice in his first five outings, Allen looks to be on the verge of breakthrough campaign. Banton has embraced his increased responsibilities and playing time, averaging 14.2 points per game, and leads the team with 7.2 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game.
#Huskers guard Dalano Banton is one of only three players in the country with 50+ points, 25+ rebounds, and 20+ assists #Nebrasketball

However, with the team’s remaining starters producing streaky offense, it is tough seeing this Huskers squad keeping pace with Creighton on home court, particularly following the Bluejays’ recent heartbreaking loss.
Pick: Bluejays -13.5 (-118); OVER 149.5 (-115)
