Odds taken Dec. 21

Pick#1: Suggs to go UNDER 20.5 points

Gonzaga freshman guard Jalen Suggs was unstoppable against Iowa and showed why he is considered the top recruit in program history. He had a season-high 27 points, made 7 of 10 shots from 3-point range, dished out four assists and had three steals.

Suggs is beginning the generate buzz that he could be first overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

Through the first four games of his career, Suggs is averaging 16.8 points, 5.8 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 2.5 steals a game. He is also shooting a sizzling 56.3% on 3s.

Suggs had a memorable collegiate debut with 24 points and eight assists in season-opener 102-90 victory over Kansas on Thanksgiving in Fort Myers. The next day, Suggs scored 12 points in win over Auburn.

However, the St. Paul, Minn., native was quiet in the Bulldogs’ third game, an 87-82 victory over West Virginia on Dec. 2 in Indianapolis. He scored four points and took just six shots.

As well as Suggs played against Iowa, look for him to be a little fatigued with only one day off between games. His playing time also figures to be limited as coach Mark Few is likely to give his reserves plenty of action in a probable blowout.

Pick #2: Nembhard to go OVER 12.0 points

With the all the hype surrounding Suggs, another newcomer to the backcourt has gone pretty much unnoticed. However, junior Andrew Nembhard has also made an impact coming off the bench after transferring from Florida.

The Canadian is scoring 12.0 points and dishing out 3.8 assists a game.

Nembhard has plenty of college basketball experience at a high level. He started all 67 games in which he appeared during his two seasons at Florida.

In 2019-20, Nembhard scored 11.2 points a game for the Gators. He had 25-point games against Alabama and Georgia and scored 24 points versus Texas A&M.

Nembhard scored a season-high 19 points against a tough West Virginia defense before Gonzaga’s pause. Against Iowa, he had 13 points.

This seems like a game where Nembhard might carry a heavier scoring load while many of his teammates are rested.
