Purdue Betting Outlook

Purdue is the second-best offensive team in the country in terms of KenPom’s adjusted efficiency, averaging 124.1 points per 100 possessions.

Sophomore guard Jaden Ivey is Purdue’s leading scorer at 16.3 points a game. He is also averaging 5.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

Ivey had 17 points and five assists against Nebraska. He has scored in double figures in 13 straight games and 15 of 16 overall this season.

Sophomore center Zach Edey scored a game-high 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting while grabbing nine rebounds. It was the 7-foot-4 Canadian’s third 20-point effort in the last four games and sixth of the season.

Edey is averaging 15.4 points and 7.5 rebounds.

Preseason All-America Trevion Williams is having a fine all-round season. The senior forward has averages of 13.3 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists and registered 10 points, five rebounds and three assists Friday.

Williams is shooting 61.0% from the field, ranking 14^th in Division I.

Senior guard Sasha Sstefanovic is the fourth Purdue player scoring in double digits with averages of 11.2 points and 3.9 assists.

Freshman forward Caleb Furst had 10 points of the bench against Nebraska for his first double-digit game since Nov. 21.

Purdue made quick work of the Cornhuskers, racing to a 23-4 lead then never letting the advantage dip below 12 points. The Boilermakers held a 41-31 rebounding edge and forced 17 turnovers.

Purdue is 8-8 against the spread and has been the losing side in both true road games.

Cockburn has ninth double-double in a row Friday when he finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Michigan. It was also Cockburn’s eight-game with at least 20 points.

Nationally, Cockburn is third in rebounding, fifth in scoring and his 60.2% field goal percentage is 17^th.

Senior guard Trent Frazier also fueled the victory with 18 points, including 16 in the second half, and a career-high seven assists. His season averages include 13.2 points, 3.4 assists and 1.5 steals.

Frazier’s playmaking ability has been pivotal. Sophomore starting point guard Andre Curbelo (neck) has missed the last 11 games and is out indefinitely.

Senior guard Alfonso Plummer finished with 15 points for his 11^th double-figure performance in the last 12 games. After transferring from Utah, Plummer did not reach double digits in his first four games but has since lifted his season scoring average to 15.9.

Senior wing Jacob Grandison is scoring 11.7 points a game for the Illini, who are ninth in the nation in adjusted offensive efficiency with 117.6 points per 100 possessions.

The defense came up big against Michigan, holding the Wolverines to 36.7% (22 of 60) shooting, including 1 of 10 on three-pointers.

Illinois is 6-3 ATS at home and 9-7 overall.

Purdue vs Illinois Prediction

Illinois has won three games in a row over Purdue after losing four straight. The teams last played Jan. 2, 2021, and the Illini won 66-58 in Champaign. Cockburn finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for Illinois. Purdue got 14 points and eight rebounds from Williams.

This game shapes up to be an entertaining one. However, Illinois has been playing as well as just about any team in the country lately and should cover the small number.
