The Aztecs meanwhile, enter play having alternated wins and losses over their past five games, most recently blowing out New Mexico at home on Monday.

San Diego State vs Colorado State Betting Analysis

The Rams latest defeat, an 84-78 overtime loss, came Monday at Wyoming. Their dynamic duo of David Roddy and Isaiah Stevens combined for 40 points, but the team struggled from long range and especially on defense.

CSU shot just 30% from beyond the arc, while providing little resistance against the Cowboy shooters. Wyoming knocked down 52.8% of its attempts, including 43% of its downtown looks. The Rams lost the rebounding as well, and sent Wyoming to the free throw line 24 times.

CSU started this season 11-0, before suffering their first defeat against the same Aztec team they’ll face on Friday. San Diego State wiped the floor with the Rams back in early January, posting a 79-49 victory. They held the Rams to their lowest scoring performance of the season, while completely locking them down on the perimeter. CSU shot just 27.9% from the field, and 15% from three.

Elite defense is nothing new for the Aztecs however, as they are one of the best teams at that end of the floor in the country. They rank third in the nation in scoring defense and opponent field goal percentage, while checking in 18th in blocks and 40th in steals.

What was surprising about the first meeting between these two Mountain West foes was the efficiency of San Diego State’s offense. They shot 48% from the field, and 47% from three against the Rams, which is one of their best performances of the season.

They enter play ranked 301st in points per game (64.6), and 236th in field goal percentage. Last time out versus New Mexico, they got 14 points from both Keshad Johnson and Matt Bradley, but the victory was keyed by limiting the Lobos to a season-low 47 points.

San Diego State vs Colorado State Betting Trends

The Rams on the other hand, average 77.7 points per outing, which ranks 28th in the country, and shoot the fifth highest field goal percentage (49.3%) in all of college basketball.

That efficiency however, hasn’t led to nearly as many high scoring games as you’d expect. Nine of their past 13 games have gone under the total, despite boasting just an average defense.

The Aztecs meanwhile, have been cashing under tickets all season long. Six of their past nine outings have gone under the total, including their first matchup with the Rams. The under is 12-5 in their 17 games so far, hitting in five of their seven matchups versus ranked opposition.

San Diego State vs Colorado State Pick

The total is low, and it won’t be fun to sweat, but it offers the most value of any line for this contest. These teams know each other extremely well, and buckets are likely going to be tough to come by at both ends of the floor.

Four of the Aztecs last six games have produced a total south of 129 points, and this one should as well.

Pick: Under 128.5 (-110)
