St. Bonaventure kept rolling along Tuesday night with an 86-73 victory at home over La Salle, though the Bonnies wound up pushing as 13-point favorites.
Junior guard Jalen Adaway topped St. Bonaventure with 20 points, his second-best scoring output of the season.

The transfer from Miami of Ohio is averaging 11.1 points and 6.4 rebounds a game while turning the ball over just nine times this season in 384 minutes played.
Do-everything junior guard Kyle Lofton added 18 points and eight assists. He leads St. Bonaventure in both categories with averages of 16.0 points and 5.3 assists along with 1.5 steals. Lofton has also played a whopping 95.4% of the Bonnies’ minutes.
Junior forward Osun Osunniyi finished with 17 points and three blocked shots and has at least three rejections in six of 12 games this season. He is nearly averaging a double-double with 10.8 points and 9.3 rebounds as well as 2.4 blocks.

Junior forward Jason Holmes had 15 points as he reached double figures for the eight time of the last nine games after scoring a total of 17 points in the first three games of the season. He is scoring 14.7 points and pulling down 5.8 rebounds a game.
A fifth St. Bonaventure player, junior Dominick Welch, is also scoring in double digits at 11.4 points a game. He is also averaging 6.3 rebounds.
Defense Keys VCU
While St Bonaventure has five players with double-figure scoring averages, VCU can counter with a strong defense. According to KenPom.com, the Rams are 14th in the nation in adjusted defensive efficiency as they are allowing 90.6 points per 100 possessions.
Sophomore guard Nah’Shon “Bones” Hyland is most notable for his 19.2 scoring average. He is also accounting for 32.4% of VCU’s shots.

However, Hyland is also a strong defensive player as he is averaging 2.1 steals a game a game. Freshman guard Adrian Baldwin Jr. also has a 2.1 steal averages. Sophomore forward Hason Ward is blocking 2.4 shots a game and senior forward Corey Douglas Sr. is averaging 1.5 rejections.
Hyland and junior forward Vince Williams Jr. scored 19 points apiece to lead VCU to a 76-67 road victory over Dayton on Tuesday as a two-point favorite. It marked the 17th time in 18 games this season that Hyland reached double figures.
The 19 points were a career high for Williams. He is the only other VCU player scoring in double digits as he is averaging 10.9 points and 5.0 assists.

Balwin has been an outstanding facilitator in his initial collegiate season with an average of 4.6 assists. He and senior forward Levi Stockard III each had 10 points against Dayton, and both have scored in double digits in each of the last two games.
Bonnies won first matchup
St. Bonaventure cruised to a 70-54 victory over VCU on January 20 as a two-point favorite at home.
Welch scored a game-high 19 points as he made 5 of 6 shots from 3-point range. Holmes also had a strong effort with 18 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots.
Hyland had a 16-point effort for VCU, which shot just 32.2% and had 19 turnovers.
It is hard to envision this matchup being as lopsided, especially on VCU’s homecourt. It should be a tight ballgame and we’ll take the points.
