To say things are not going well for the Oregon State men’s basketball program would be a colossal understatement. Oregon State Beavers Betting Analysis

It’s hard to believe Oregon State is just nine months removed from an Elite Eight run. They started the season off with a victory over Portland State, but have yet to find the win column since. They haven’t had a halftime lead all season, despite facing five teams ranked outside the top-115 in the nation.

Last time out, they were blasted 90-65 by #11 Arizona, losing the second half by 17 points. Jarod Lucas led the way offensively with 17 points, while Warith Alatishe added 14 points, and 9 boards.

The Beavers shot a respectable 44% from the field, and 35.7% from three, but were abysmal in most other areas. They made only 57% of their free throw attempts, and were minus-3 on the glass, and minus-4 in the assist department. Oregon State’s most concerning issue however, was turnovers. They coughed up the ball 22 times which led to 29 Wildcat points.

Defensively, they yielded a 47% shooting percentage to Arizona, while forcing only 12 turnovers. For the season, the Beavers rank 224th in scoring defense, and 237th in opponent effective field goal percentage. If you think that’s bad, their offensive numbers are even worse.

Oregon State ranks 259th in points per game, 249th in effective field goal percentage, 279th in assists, and 286th in total rebounding. No wonder they’re 1-8.

UC Davis Aggies Betting Analysis

UC Davis meanwhile, is fresh off back-to-back victories, but the competition hasn’t exactly been elite. Last time out, they routed Division II program California Mercer 81-40, which followed a win over Pacific who ranks 235th.

Christian Anigwe led the Aggies with 14 points versus the Bobcats, and was one of four UC Davis players to reach double-figures. The team shot 59.6% from the field, and 55% from three, while finishing plus-16 on the glass, and plus-13 in the assist department.

The Aggies rank 176th in points per game, and 233rd in effective field goal percentage, despite playing the 261st toughest schedule in the league.

They’re a stronger team defensively, but keep in mind how soft their opponents have been. UC Davis ranks 51st in opponent effective field goal percentage, and are 34th at defending two-point field goal attempts.

UC Davis vs Oregon State Pick

Both of these programs have struggled badly against the spread this season, with Oregon State posting a 1-8 record overall, and the Aggies failing to cover in four of their last five.

UC Davis has cleared 67 points once in its last four contests, while the Beavers have failed to eclipse 65 points in three straight, and five of their past seven outings.

Oregon State plays at one of the slowest tempos in the country (292nd), and given both teams lack of offensive efficiency, the under seems like the clear play. Per KenPom, the Beavers rank 254th in raw offensive efficiency, while the Aggies rank 271st.

Pick: Under 135.5 (-110)
