Looking to put themselves on the precipice of their first Big East regular-season title since 2006, the #1 UConn Huskies (24-2, 14-1 Big East, 6-2 away, 16-10 ATS) head to Omaha, Nebraska, for a date with the #15 Creighton Bluejays (19-7, 10-5 Big East, 11-2 home, 13-13 ATS) at CHI Health Center at 7:30 pm CT/8:30 pm ET.

Riding a 14-game win streak – the longest in the nation – the Huskies are three-point road favorites in the UConn vs Creighton odds.

UConn Huskies -3 (-110) -155 Over 145 (-110)

UConn is currently the +500 favorite in the March Madness odds, seeking to become the first team to win back-to-back national championships since Florida in 2006 and 2007. Creighton is also among the top-20 March Madness favorites at +5000.

UConn Dominating During Win Streak

Since losing an ugly 75-60 decision at Seton Hall on Dec. 20, UConn has rattled off 14 straight wins. Eight of the 14 wins have come by double-digits, and four of their last five have been by at least 14 points. After losing their first two true road games this year (at Kansas and at Seton Hall), the Huskies have won six in a row in hostile territory. Most recently, UConn demolished Georgetown (89-64) and DePaul (101-65) on their own courts before routing Marquette (81-53) in Storrs.

The sheer number of weapons at coach Dan Hurley’s disposal is frightening. The Huskies have five different players averaging at least 10.8 PPG. As a team, they are hitting at a 59.2% clip from inside the arc (fourth-best in the country) and 36.7% from three (42nd).

UConn is also one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the nation, grabbing 37.4% of their own misses (12th). The Huskies are currently third in offensive efficiency at KenPom and 11th on defense.

Creighton Enters on Three-Game Streak

The Bluejays entered the year with extremely high expectations, returning the top-three scorers from a team that went 24-13 and made it to the Elite Eight as a #6 seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Creighton hasn’t quite reached the upper echelon as many pundits expected, though. They’ve played nine games against teams rated in the KenPom top 50, going 5-4. That includes an uncompetitive 62-48 loss at UConn last month, a game thy trailed by 11 at halftime and by as many as 18 in the second half before a late run made the score more respectable.

A two-game skid against Butler (99-98 home) and Providence (91-87 OT away) in early February dropped Creighton to 7-5 in Big East play and out of contention for the regular-season title. Greg McDermott’s team has at least righted the ship since, winning three in a row in impressive fashion over Xavier (78-71 away), Georgetown (94-72 home), and Butler (79-57 away).

Baylor Scheierman (18.7 PPG, 8.7 RPG, 4.0 AGP), Trey Alexander (17.2 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 4.7 APG), and seven-footer Ryan Kalkbrenner (17.2 PPG, 7.4 RPG) have taken turns leading the offense during the win streak. Kalkbrenner had a team-high 28 against Xavier, Alexander led the way with 26 against Georgetown, and Scheierman had a team and season-high 27 last time out in the rout of Butler.

The one area where Creighton pales in comparison to UConn is on the glass. They Bluejays are just 287th in offensive rebounding, and that was the major difference when the teams met the first time this season. UConn finished the January meeting with a 48-32 rebounding edge, including a ludicrous 21-6 edge at the offensive end.

The point totals for UConn vs Creighton list Scheierman with a game-high 18.5, but with the under favored to hit. All three of Creighton’s go-to guys (including Kalkbrenner at 17.5 and Alexander at 16.5) have point totals higher than any of the UConn players, who are led by Tristen Newton at 15.5.

UConn vs Creighton Prediction

UConn is a very difficult team to bet into, especially when riding a 14-game win streak. But Creighton is one of the few rosters in the country that has both the talent and the size to hang with the Huskies. These teams split their season series last year with UConn winning 69-60 in Storrs and Creighton winning 56-53 in Omaha, led by 17 points from Alexander.

Both of UConn’s losses this season have come on the road, and Omaha is one of the toughest trips in the Big East. What Creighton lacks in offensive rebounding, they make up for at the defensive end, sitting 20th out of 362 DI teams at 75.7%. As long as the Bluejays take care of their own glass better than they did in the first game, they have a good chance to knock off the reigning champs.

UConn vs Creighton picks:
