An unbelievable Saturday of college football has sent the National Championship odds into disarray. Finally, bettors have some clarity at the top of the heap.

First, Georgia laid the smack down on the #1 Tennessee Volunteers. The reigning National Champions asserted their dominance atop the college football world. Next, the #4 Clemson Tigers were decimated by a physically dominant Notre Dame team. Finally, the Alabama Crimson Tide were upset by an upstart LSU Tigers squad in Death Valley, sending Nick Saban and the Tide running home with their tails between their legs.

A momentous Saturday slate has completely changed the narrative of the college football season. As such, the National Championship odds have been neatly arranged to reflect a wild Week 10. The table below displays the updated National Championship odds.

Georgia Lays Claim to College Football’s Top Spot

The Kings of the SEC showed college football who’s boss on Saturday afternoon in Athens. Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs looked every bit the reigning champions in a 27-13 beatdown of #1 Tennessee.

Ultimately, the “game of the century” proved to be rather underwhelming, as Georgia jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.

With the Heisman odds favorite on the other sideline, former walk-on Stetson Bennett led his team to victory. Bennett looked calm, cool and collected in the pocket all afternoon throwing for 257 yards and two touchdowns while adding a highlight reel rushing score to his resume.

With Bennett looking unflappable at the helm, this Georgia team will be incredibly difficult to beat. Georgia’s National Championship odds improved to +100 after the decisive victory.

In the end, Georgia proved to be a bridge too far for the high-flying Volunteers. A boisterous crowd in Athens forced Tennessee into eight pre-snap penalties. On top of that, the Bulldogs defense forced Hendon Hooker and Tennessee to sustain long drives, and for the first time this season, Josh Heupel’s offense couldn’t answer the call. Georgia harassed Hooker all night to the tune of seven sacks, while pressing Tennessee into a number of long third down tries. After averaging nearly 50 points per game on the season, the Volunteers converted just 2 of 14 third downs and scored only one touchdown. It’s back to the drawing board for Hooker and the Vols who fell to +2000 to win the National Championship.

Down Goes Alabama … Again

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels was wheeling and dealing all night in Baton Rouge. The much-maligned Arizona State transfer has been the story of Brian Kelly’s first season in Louisiana, and boy did he put on a show on Saturday. Daniel finished with three touchdowns in the victory and looked every bit the dual-threat weapon LSU fans were hoping to see all year.

After Roydell Williams put Alabama ahead in the extra frame, Daniels took over. The junior pivot turned on the jets to tie the game with a 25-yard touchdown scamper. Then, seeing an opportunity, Kelly took the ultimate gamble, going for 2 to win the game. Daniels rolled out to hit freshman tight end Mason Taylor – son of NFL-great Jason – in the endzone to convert the two-point try and send Death Valley into hysteria.

The loss sent the Crimson Tide’s National Championship odds spiralling. Alabama now sits at +5000 odds to win the National Championship, as two losses may be too much for this squad to overcome. On the flip side, LSU’s National Championship odds jumped to +5000, with three very winnable games versus Arkansas, UAB and Texas A&M left on the schedule.
