Clemson Betting Trends

After being anointed the next great quarterback after Trevor Lawrence left Clemson, DJ Uiagalelei failed to impress last season. Having said that, he’s turned things around this year and enters this week with 17 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions on the season. The junior signal caller is the centerpiece of Clemson’s offense, which now averages 424 yards and 38.6 points per game on the year.

After a shaky start to the season, Dabo Swinney’s men will be looking to make a late-season push toward the College Football Playoff. Although, their path to the Playoff is far less straightforward than in past years.

The Tigers may be 7-1 against the spread in their last eight conference games, but the Orange have been a formidable opponent. Clemson is just 1-4 against the spread in their last four games versus Syracuse.

Syracuse Betting Trends

Syracuse enters this one riding high off a 24-9 smacking of NC State at a sold-out JMA Dome last weekend. Now, the Orange face their toughest test yet as they head to Death Valley to take on No. 5 Clemson.

The Syracuse Orange may have the most underrated defense in the country. Miraculously, the Orangemen enter this contest with the 8th-ranked defense in the nation, allowing just 312 yards per game. On top of that, Syracuse has surrendered just 15.8 points per game this season. Linebacker Mikel Jones was all over the field last week, leading the team with 7 tackles and key sacks on NC State’s final possession. He’ll be essential in stopping the explosive Tigers attack on Saturday. Co-ordinator Tony White’s defense must unleash chaos and limit mistakes for Syracuse to have any chance at victory.

The betting trends favor Syracuse in this matchup. The Orange have gone an almost unimaginable 5-1 against the spread this season. For a team whose goal was to play in a bowl game in 2022, the first six weeks of this season have to feel like a dream.

Clemson vs Syracuse Prediction

Historically, Syracuse has played Clemson very well. The Orange have come close to pulling off a historic upset on more than one occasion. Syracuse has won two of ten games in the all-time series, the first 41-0 at the Gator Bowl in 1996 and the most recent 34-3 at home in 2017. But in three of the past five matchups, they kept it close, including a three-point defeat in the Dome last year.

After witnessing the Syracuse defense dominate NC State last week, it’s tough to believe Clemson can beat this team by two scores. Take Syracuse to cover the 13.5-point spread.

Pick: Syracuse +13.5 (-110)
