College Football Picks and Odds November 10th – Akron vs Ohio, Kent State vs Bowling Green and Miami (OH) vs Buffalo

• The second slate of midweek “MACtion” games will be underway on Tuesday, Nov. 10, featuring Akron vs. Ohio, Kent State vs. Bowling Green, and Miami (OH) vs. Buffalo
• All three point spreads are double digits, even though three of these teams played in one-score games last week

Last week, the Mid-American Conference’s midweek “MACtion” returned in full force. There were surprise onside kicks, a boatload of points and even a temporary power outage.

On Tuesday, Nov. 10, the MACtion continues. We’ll highlight three of the games below to get you ready for what promises to be another action-packed evening.

Akron vs Ohio Week 11 Odds

After last week’s loss to open their shortened six-game season, Ohio is essentially in must-win mode from here on out. When the Bobcats host the Zips on Tuesday, they’ll have a great opportunity to get into the win column.

Akron was a consensus basement dweller pick in the MAC’s preseason coaches and media polls after last year’s 0-12 performance. The Zips haven’t won a game since Oct. 27, 2018.

So we know they’re a nightmare as a straight-up pick. But what about against the spread? It turns out that hasn’t led to anything good, either, as Akron is just 1-9 ATS in its past 10 games. That include 0-4 ATS in its past four Tuesday games and 1-5 ATS in recent road games.

Last year, as 27.5-point favorites in this matchup, Ohio covered easily in a 52-3 rout.

The Bobcats look a bit different in 2020, featured two new quarterbacks: an athletic, run-first grad transfer (Armani Rogers) and a pocket-passing redshirt freshman (Kurtis Rourke). They lost outright as road favorites last week at Central Michigan, but they’ve covered two of their past three double-digit spreads.

Neither defense in this matchup did much to impress in their first games (Ohio and Akron combined to allow 911 yards and 88 points), so take the over. And look for the Bobcats to pick up where they left off last season with the Zips.

Pick: Ohio -26.5 (-114); Over 57.5 (-110)

Kent State vs Bowling Green Odds

In another matchup with a lopsided spread, the Kent State Golden Flashes face the Bowling Green Falcons in an East Division matchup.

When the Falcons took the field last week, their rivalry game with Toledo was over also as quickly as it’d started — eventually wrapping up in a 38-3 loss for Bowling Green.

Bowling Green is now 0-4 ATS in its past four MAC games, and only 2-8 ATS in its past 10 games overall. When these two teams met last year, Kent State covered its 12-point spread with ease in a 62-20 blowout win.

Kent State quarterback Dustin Crum, who is still with the team, threw for 310 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in that game. He’s looking to build off a stellar junior year last year, in which he had 20 touchdowns versus only two interceptions in 13 games.

Bowling Green running back Andrew Clair (5.3 yards/carry, 17 total touchdowns in 27 career games) is questionable for an undisclosed reason. With or without him though, Kent State has the clear upper hand.

Pick: Kent State -20.5 (-105)

Miami (OH) vs Buffalo Week 11 Odds

Unfortunately, this matchup of the Miami (OH) RedHawks vs. the Buffalo Bulls is so closely linked to the health status of Miami quarterback Brett Gabbert.

For now, Gabbert is questionable to play with a head injury he sustained early in last week’s win against Ball State. Gabbert, who led the RedHawks to a MAC championship last season, has the tools to take on this talented Buffalo team.

It’s important to note that Miami fared well with Gabbert’s backup, AJ Mayer, who was 16-of-24 for 212 yards and three touchdowns. Also, Miami won last year’s matchup with Buffalo by two touchdowns — despite being 2.5-point underdogs.

So the RedHawks are probably worth your investment either way. But keep an eye on last-minute injury news about Gabbert, because his status could certainly change this line one way or another.
