Ethan Garbers Passing Touchdowns

Kicking off our college football player props for Saturday is a play on UCLA quarterback Ethan Garbers in the LA Bowl vs Boise State. Dante Moore has hit the transfer portal, but fortunately for the Bruins, Garbers appeared in seven games this season, throwing for nearly 1,000 yards.

In these bowl games that feature plenty of opt-outs, experience is often pivotal. Garbers will be facing a vulnerable Boise State secondary that is allowing 252 yards per game and 7.9 yards per catch. According to our opt-out tracker, the Broncos will be without leading safety Keenan McCaddy.

ESPN Bet has set Garbers’ passing TDS for the LA Bowl at 1.5, and we think there’s nice value on the over. In his previous four starts for UCLA before Moore took over, Garbers averaged two TD passes per game, including three vs USC.

Boise State’s secondary has been exposed by strong passing teams this season, including Washington and Colorado State, who had a combined nine passing touchdowns. With all three of the Bruins’ top receivers set to play Saturday, we like the chances of Garbers having a big night.

  • Pick: Ethan Garbers OVER 1.5 Passing TDs (-114)

Tahj Brooks Rushing Yards

Our second recommended college football player prop pick for Saturday is Texas Tech Red Raiders running back Tahj Brooks in his bowl game against Cal. The senior has one of the highest running totals on the slate, but we like the “over” given the matchup at hand.

Brooks has been a monster this season, surpassing 130 rushing yards in six of his games so far. He faces a Golden Bears defense allowing 133 rushing yards per game and 1.8 rushing TDs. Cal’s run defense has held up against the weaker Pac-12 teams, but they’ve been torched by stronger rushing attacks like Utah and Oregon State.

Brooks averages 24.8 touches per game and has seen at least 25 touches in four straight games, so we think the volume will be there for Brooks to go over this number. He will also be plenty motivated to perform after announcing his return in 2024.

The Red Raiders run the ball on 50% of their offensive snaps, and we expect a heavy reliance on Brooks Saturday, especially with the news that QB Tyler Shough and top receiver Miles Price have opted out of this bowl game.

  • Pick: Tahj Brooks OVER 121.5 Rushing Yards (-114)
