Texas is a 15-point favorite over Oklahoma State in the Big 12 championship game.
Texas beat Alabama earlier this season, but it might not be enough to get the Longhorns in the College Football Playoff.
  • The #7 Texas Longhorns are 15-point favorites over the #19 Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Big 12 championship game on Saturday, Dec. 2
  • Texas is 2-6 SU and ATS in the past eight meetings with Oklahoma State
  • The Longhorns haven’t been Big 12 champions since 2009

The #7 Texas Longhorns (11-1, 6-5-1 ATS) can bid adieu to the Big 12 in a big way, and only the #19 Oklahoma State Cowboys (9-3, 7-5 ATS) are standing in their way.

It’s the Longhorns and Cowboys who are meeting in the Big 12 title game, as Texas seeks its first conference title since 2009. The Longhorns are leaving the Big 12 at season’s end to join the SEC.

The Longhorns are set as a 15-point favorite over the Cowboys in the Oklahoma State vs Texas odds. Texas is 4-4 against the spread this season as the double-digit chalk.

Taking a deeper look into the OK State vs Texas odds, we’ll offer you our prediction for this Big 12 championship tilt.

This is the first meeting between Oklahoma State and Texas since 2022. The Cowboys have won outright and covered in the last two games facing the Longhorns.

Kickoff for this game at AT&T Stadium on Saturday, December 1 is set for 12:00 pm ET. The broadcast is being carried by ABC.

Cowboys vs Longhorns Betting Trends

In the college football public betting, the people are with the Longhorns in both the spread and moneyline splits. Spread bettors are going for Texas with 57% of handle and 60% of bets. This is the first Oklahoma State vs Texas game with a double-digit spread since the Longhorns were 12-point favorites in 2008. Texas won 28-24, failing to cover.

Moneylline bettors are even more hooked on the horns. Texas is garnering 91% of handle and 93% of bets in the moneyline splits. The Longhorns are 11-2 SU in their last 13 Big 12 games.

The people are going with the over on the total of 55 points. It’s getting 68% of handle and 63% of bets. Five of the last seven games played by the Cowboys have gone over. However, the Longhorns have hit the under in seven of their last 10 games.

Texas is the fourth betting choice in the National Championship odds at +900. The Longhorns are given a +155 betting line when it comes to qualifying for the CFP.

Oklahoma State’s Gordon Facing Toughest Test

Cowboys RB Ollie Gordon II is the nation’s leading rusher. He’s gained 1,580 yards on the ground. Gordon’s 20 rushing touchdowns are second in the country. As well, his 6.45 yards per carry ranks ninth in the NCAA and is #1 among players with at least 200 carries.

However, Gordon hasn’t met a defensive front as stingy and ferocious as the Texas unit that will be lining up across from him. The Longhorns defense is allowing just 2.93 yards per rush attempt. That’s third-best in the nation. Allowing 84.0 rushing yards per game, Texas ranks #4 in that category.

According to Pro Football Focus, the Texas duo of T’Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy II grade out as the top two interior defensive linemen in college football.

Longhorns Need Decisive Win To Make CFP

From the Texas standpoint, winning might not be enough to gain the ultimate prize – one of four coveted spots in the CFP. Depending upon how other conference championship games play out this weekend, the Longhorns may need a decisive statement win over the Cowboys to reign in one of those four spots.

The problem they may face is that the favorite has failed to cover in six successive Oklahoma State vs Texas games. Only one of the past eight meetings resulted in more than a one-score decision for the winner.

Oklahoma State vs Texas Prediction

The Cowboys have faced one ranked team previously this season. They beat arch-rival Oklahoma 27-24 in bedlam.

By contrast, Texas is 1-1 vs ranked teams. However, the loss suffered by the Longhorns was to Oklahoma.

Oklahoma State is 4-1 ATS in the school’s last five Big 12 games and the last five times facing Texas. The Cowboys won’t be winning this game, but could very well keep it close enough to cover.

OK State vs Texas Pick: Oklahoma State Cowboys +15 (-112)
