Aggies Are Streakin’

Texas A&M brings a four-game winning streak into its Week 11 matchup with the Rebels. The Aggies have reeled off four consecutive victories over Alabama, Missouri, South Carolina and Auburn, covering the spread in all four contests. They held the Tigers to only three points in a 20-3 victory last weekend.

JImbo Fisher’s team is playing some impressive football right now, which is part of the reason the betting line for Saturday’s game has been moving in A&M’s favor after opening with the Aggies as -1 favorites. Texas A&M features an elite defense that is only allowing 14.7 points per game.

The Aggies offense features two quality running backs in Isaiah Spiller and Devon Achane, who have both rushed for over 700 yards. The quarterback position is a bit of a concern, however, as Zach Calzada suffered an injury last weekend vs Auburn. The latest Calzada injury update is that he’s “good” and practicing.

Rebels Can Sling It

Ole Miss bring it’s high-powered offense into this Week 11 SEC showdown with the Aggies. The Rebels are averaging 37.8 points and over 500 yards per game thanks to offensive-minded coach Lane Kiffin and star quarterback Matt Corral. Corral threw for 324 yards in a 27-14 victory over Liberty last weekend.

Corral has thrown for 2,527 yards and six TDs with only two interceptions this season, while also making things happen with his legs. He’s complimented in the backfield by three 400-yard rushers in Henry Parrish Jr., Snoop Conner and Jerrion Ealy. Ealy rushed for 115 yards and two scores against Liberty.

Ole Miss has covered the spread in three of its past four games, but injuries are a concern.  Corral is battling through an ankle injury, while his top-three pass catchers Dontario Drummond, Braylon Sanders and Jonathan Mingo are also battling injuries. Mingo is the only one who’s been ruled out for the A&M game as of publishing.

Betting Pick & Prediction

The Texas A&M vs Ole Miss game could really go one of two ways. The Aggies can win by shutting down the Rebels high-powered offense and establishing their ground game, while Ole Miss can come out on top if they can open things up and turn the game into a shootout.

Recent history tells us the Aggies’ defense may be able to limit the Rebels explosive offense. Texas A&M has won four straight against Ole Miss, covering the spread in the last three. The last meeting was a 24-17 road victory for the Aggies in which Corral was held to 124 passing yards.

This is the Rebels’ first time facing A&M with Kiffin at the helm, but the Aggies’ defense is legit. When you look at Ole Miss’ two losses this season, the Rebels’ offense was completely neutralized by stout Alabama and Auburn defenses. This Aggies defense could be the best unit they’ve faced all season.

While A&M’s defense will clamp down in Oxford, their two talented running backs should exploit a weak Ole Miss rush defense allowing 238 yards per game. Injuries are taking their toll on the Rebels, as the “under” as cashed in four straight for Mississippi. Bet on A&M to win by at least a field goal in a low-scoring affair Saturday.

  • Pick: Texas A&M -2.5 (-110), Under 55.5 (-105)
