The line has moved in both directions since it was posted Sunday. The game opened as a pick, and UCLA was bet up to a 2.5-point favorite early in the week before Oregon money dropped the line to its current number.

UCLA coach Chip Kelly will meet Oregon at home for the first time since he joined the Bruins in 2018. Kelly led the Ducks to a 46-7 record and three top-four finishes in the final AP poll in his four seasons from 2009-12. The Bruins lost road games at Oregon in 2018 and 2020.

Strong Rushing Attacks for Both

Led by quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson and halfback Zach Charbonnet, UCLA ranks No. 17 in the FBS with 219.9 rushing yards per game and has rushed for at least 200 yards in all four Pac-12 games, including 246 yards in a 24-17 victory at Washington last week. The Bruins are averaging 4.9 yards per carry.

Charbonnet leads the Pac-12 with 697 yards rushing and has seven touchdowns, and Thompson-Robinson has rushed for 328 yards and five touchdowns. Halfback Brittain Brown (467 yards) is averaging 6.4 yards per carry. Charbonnet is averaging  6.34. Both are in the top 17 nationally.

Travis Dye leads the Ducks with 527 yards rushing and a 6.7-yard average. He has carried the load since the loss of CJ Verdell, who had a team-high 406 yards and six touchdowns being suffering a season-ending  lower leg injury in a 31-24 overtime loss to Stanford. Dye, who also leads the team with 15 receptions, and had a career-high 218 all-purpose yards against Cal.

Oregon and Coastal Carolina are the only two FBS teams to have rushed for at least 180 yards in every game.

Pac-12 Elimination Play Begins

Neither contender can afford another loss, although a UCLA loss would be more damaging. The Bruins trail Utah (4-2, 3-0) in the six-team Pac-12 South and already have lost to contender ASU (5-2, 3-1). The Bruins play at Utah next weekend and play arch-rival USC on the road.

The Ducks are in a little better shape, inasmuch as they are tied with Oregon State (4-2, 2-1) atop the Pac-12 North, but the Ducks still have road games remaining at Washington and Utah and the annual rivalry game against Oregon State to end the season.
