It will be a reconfigured Pac-12 Championship Game when USC hosts Oregon at 8 p.m. ET Friday at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

After winning the Pac-12 South, the Trojans were originally scheduled to play North champion Washington. However, the Huskies are unable to play because of a COVID-19 outbreak.

Thus, it will be USC (5-0) against the second-place Ducks (3-2) and the Trojans are 3.5-point favorites with the over/under at 64.5.

Slowing Down Slovis

Slovis is having an outstanding season, leading the Pac-12 in completions (29.8 per game), completion percentage (70.3) and yards passing (320.2 per game). He also ranks seventh in the FBS in all three categories.

Furthermore, Slovis has also been a clutch performer. He has rallied USC for the winning points in the final 80 seconds in three of their five victories.

Slovis is also a winner. He has a 12-1 record against Pac-12 competition during his two seasons.

However, the one conference team Slovis has not been able to beat is Oregon. Last season, the Ducks rolled to a 56-24 victory at the Coliseum as 3.5-point favorites on their way to the Pac-12 title.

Slovis completed just 32 of 57 passes for 264 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. He also lost a fumble. All four turnovers came in a 19-minute span.

Oregon is allowing 235.6 yards passing per game this season, which ranks 69th in the country.

Look for USC to throw early and often with leading rusher Vavae Malepeai (knee) expected to miss the game. However, the Ducks are the one team that seems to know how to slow down Slovis.

Dye Does It All

Junior running back Travis Dye is a multi-skilled player for Oregon, and leads the Ducks with 580 all-purpose yards in five games.

Dye tops the Ducks in rushing with 336 yards and one touchdown on 45 carries. That is an average of 7.5 yards an attempt.

While he has just five receptions, they have gone for 204 yards, a whopping 40.8 yards a catch, and three TDs. Dye is also the Ducks’ primary punt returner. He is averaging 13.3 yards on three returns.

In last season’s win over USC, Dye lead the Ducks with 75 yards rushing on 12 carries.

However, Dye is part of a three-pronged rushing attack this season with CJ Verdell (285 yards) and Shough (258). Thus, Dye averages just nine rushing attempts a game.

Going against a USC rushing defense that is 55^th in the country and allowing 157 yards a game, Dye may have a hard time putting up big numbers on the ground. His lack of touches, though, might really make piling up the yards difficult.
