Tigers Are Catching Fire

Auburn has reeled off consecutive upset wins over Arkansas and Ole Miss following a 34-10 loss to No. 1 Georgia on Oct. 9. The Tigers scored 30-plus points and accumulated over 400 yards of offense in both victories. They’ve covered the spread in back-to-back weeks to improve to 5-3 ATS overall.

The Tigers are led by dual-threat QB Bo Nix, who has passed for 1,764 yards and nine TDs with just two interceptions, while rushing for an additional 189 yards and four scores. Auburn also has two quality running backs in Tank Bigsby and Jarquez Hunter, who have both rushed for over 500 yards.

Auburn’s offense has really been clicking, but their defense has also been impressive. The Tigers held Lane Kiffin’s high-powered offense to only 20 points last weekend and have allowed just 27 total points in the fourth quarter. Senior linebacker Zakoby McClain has been a force, ranking second in the SEC with 11 tackles per game.

Aggies Also on Upward Trajectory

Texas A&M is also playing some of its best football of the season after a slow start to the year. The Aggies took down then-No.1 Alabama on Oct. 9 before beating Missouri and South Carolina in convincing fashion the following two weeks. Jimbo Fisher’s team went 5-3 ATS before getting a bye in Week 9.

Texas A&M QB Zach Calzada doesn’t have the dual-threat ability Nix possesses, but he’s an efficient pocket passer. Since taking over for injured Haynes King, Calzada has thrown for 1,364 yards and 12 TDs with seven picks. The Aggies also have two electric running backs in Isaiah Spiller and Devon Achane, who have both rushed for over 600 yards.

On the other side of the ball, the Aggies possess one of the country’s top defenses. They’re only allowing 16 points per games, while ranking top-20 nationally in both sacks and interceptions. Senior DB Leon O’Neal Jr. has been one of the standouts, recording 33 tackles, one sack and two interceptions.

Texas A&M vs Auburn Betting Pick & Prediction

The Texas A&M vs Auburn odds gives an edge to the Aggies at home, but this game should really be closer to a pick’em. The Tigers haven’t had any trouble winning in College Station historically and boast a veteran QB playing some of his best football of his career. With both teams having strong rush attacks, quarterback play could decide this matchup.

In Bo Nix’s last two games, he’s completed 76.8% of his passes for six total TDs and one pick. Texas A&M QB Zach Calzada had a monster game against Alabama, but he only completed 50% of his passes against Missouri and 52% of his passes against South Carolina. He’s turnover prone and facing a fierce Auburn pass rushing averaging 2.63 sacks per game.

Nix gives Auburn an edge in the passing game, but it’s the Tigers run defense that should win them this game. They’re only allowing 3.29 yards per carry and should be able to limit RB’s Spiller and Achane enough to force the Aggies to throw the ball. That’s where the Tigers defensive playmakers will comes through with a few big plays to secure the upset.
