There are only two full weeks remaining in the 2023 college football season, and Week 12 brings some great ATS betting opportunities. We’ve identified three of our top Week 12 college football picks against the spread to help you make some money.

Among our Week 12 CFB ATS picks is a play on the Michigan Wolverines as they face Maryland in a tune-up for next weekend’s “The Game”. We’re also fading Texas as 7.5-point road favorites in their Big 12 clash with feisty Iowa State.

Here are our Week 12 college football picks against the spread.

Michigan vs Maryland Odds

Pick #1: Michigan (-19) vs Maryland

Kicking off our Week 12 college football picks against the spread is a play on the Michigan Wolverines as 19-point road favorites vs the Maryland Terrapins. We have this one projected around a 25-point win for the blue and yellow, and the line isn’t fully adjusted to where it should be (yet).

The college football public betting splits show the exact type of money distribution we like to see, with UM getting 80% of the ATS handle with only 22% of bets. The big-money bettors are backing the Wolverines despite the spread almost being in the double digits.

The obvious concern here is the look ahead to the Ohio State game, but we can look at the last time the Wolverines played Maryland in Week 12 (2021) and see they won 59-18 in College Park before beating OSU the following week.

We don’t see the Terrapins scoring enough points to stay within three scores on Saturday. They narrowly edged out Nebraska 13-10 last weekend and now face a UM defense allowing just 7.5 points per game.

With Terrapins QB Taulia Tagovailoa throwing a pick in three straight games and getting sacked 13 times in that span, look for the Wolverines’ defensive line to feast Saturday and propel the team to a commanding win in their tune-up for Ohio State.

Texas vs Iowa State Odds

Pick #2: Iowa State (+7.5) vs Texas

A team we do think could get caught looking ahead this weekend is the Texas Longhorns in their matchup with the Iowa State Cyclones. ISU has played Texas tight in recent matchups, and we think Matt Campbell’s team holds some underdog value in the Week 12 CFB ATS picks.

While Quinn Ewers and the Longhorns offense is electric, the Cyclones come into this game with the top-ranked defense in the Big 12 (329 YPG). ISU’s defense is particularly dominant against the pass, allowing just over 200 yards per game through the air.

Texas has a rivalry game with Texas Tech on deck next weekend, plus a potential Big 12 rivalry game the following weekend. The Longhorns haven’t exactly been playing well on the road lately, allowing 24 or more points in three of their past games away from Austin.

This ISU team is catching fire at the right time, winning four of their last five games and exploding for 40-plus points offensively in a 45-13 victory over BYU in Week 11. The Cyclones’ run game was particularly impressive, rushing for 234 yards on the Cougars.

Considering the Cyclones haven’t given up more than 20 points in a game all season, plus the fact they only lost by three to Texas in their building last season, getting them at over a touchdown on their home field is solid value.

SMU vs Memphis Odds

Pick #3: Memphis (+8.5) vs SMU

Concluding our Week 12 college football picks against the spread is another underdog play, this one coming in a more underrated game on the Saturday slate. Memphis is an 8.5-point underdog against SMU, and this is a line we feel is off by around five points.

This game has one of the higher totals on the Saturday slate at 66.5, primarily due to both teams possessing dynamic offenses. SMU and Memphis both average around 40 points per game, and the underdog Tigers possess the top passing offense in the AAC (285 ypg).

Memphis’ porous defense (28 PPG Allowed) is the primary reason this spread is sitting at this number, but we also don’t think the Mustangs are going to be able to slow down this Tigers’ offense. When the Mustangs have faced well-balanced offensive teams like TCU, they’ve been torched for 30-plus points and over 400 yards.

Last year, SMU won against Memphis 34-31 in Dallas but did not cover the spread. In fact, SMU is 1-7-1 against the spread and 2-7 straight up in their last nine meetings with the Tigers. SMU hasn’t won at the Liberty Bowl since 2013.

Memphis hasn’t been a touchdown home underdog since 2015 and is 5-2 against the spread in their last nine as a home dog. With a talented and experienced quarterback in Seth Henigan,  plus an elite senior running back in Blake Watson, the value is on the Tigers keeping this one close in a potential back-and-forth shootout.
