After some question about whether the game would take place because of coronavirus issues, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers visit the Raiders at 4:05 p.m. Sunday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The Buccaneers are 4.5-point favorites.

The game was originally scheduled to be played Sunday night. However, when Raiders offensive right tackle Trent Brown tested positive for COVID-19 earlier in the week, the NFL decided to make a switch so NBC would be assured of having a game to televise.

Thus, the game between the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals in Phoenix will now be in primetime.

The Buccaneers are 4-2 overall and against the spread. The Raiders are 3-2 and 3-2.

Tough Task for Raiders’ O-Line

Because of Brown’s positive test and subsequent contact tracing, the rest of the Raiders’ starting interior line was held out of practice this week. That group includes Kolton Miller, Denzelle Good, Rodney Hudson and Gabe Jackson.

Brown will not play against the Buccaneers but the other four will suit up after testing negative for three straight days.

It will be interesting to see just how well the offensive line performs without any practice time. Compounding matters, the Buccaneers lead the NFL in total defense, allowing 282.0 yards a game.

The Buccaneers are coming off a particularly strong performance in Week 6 when they shut down Aaron Rodgers and the high-scoring Green Bay Packers in a 38-10 rout.

Tampa Bay is just the second team in the last 20 seasons – joining the 2008 Pittsburgh Steelers – to have at least 10 takeaways, 20 sacks and allow less than 70 yards rushing through the first six games.

Carr’s Measuring Stick

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr has admittedly been playing with a chip on his shoulder all season. A lot of that stems from the Raiders’ pursuit of Tom Brady in free agent.

Brady signed with the Buccaneers and now Carr gets his chance to match up with the six-time Super Bowl champion.

Carr leads the NFL with a 73.1 completion percentage while throwing for 1,442 yards and 11 touchdowns with just one interception in 175 throws.

He has had a passer rating of at 100 in every game this season and can join four other quarterbacks in NFL history to start a season with six games in a row – Rodgers, Brady, Russell Wilson and Carson Palmer.

For sake of comparison, Brady has completed 64.1 percent of his passes for 1,541 yards and 14 TDs while being picked four times.

Jones is The Man

Tampa Bay signed veterans Leonard Fournette and LeSean McCoy to beef up the rushing game, but incumbent running back Ronald Jones has not needed help.

Jones has rushed for 472 yards – third in the league — and three touchdowns in five games while averaging 4.9 yards a carry. He also has three straight 100-yard games.

Fournette has 123 yards on 24 carries. McCoy has just six attempts for minus-1 yard.

The Gruden Bowl

Raiders coach Jon Gruden is associated closely with both teams.

Gruden’s first four seasons as an NFL head coach were with the Raiders from 1998-2001. He then had a seven-year stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2002-08.

Following a long run on ESPN’s Monday Night Football announcing team, Gruden is his third yard in his second go-round with the Raiders.

This is Gruden’s first time facing the Buccaneers since originally leaving coaching. He is attempting to become the seventh coach to beat a team that he led to a Super Bowl title.

However, it is tough to see Gruden coming out on the top.

It has been a week of disarray for the Raiders. Conversely, the Buccaneers are coming off a complete performance against the then-unbeaten Packers in which they had no turnovers, sacks allowed or penalties.
