After a 22-14 victory over Chicago on Sunday, the Eagles have returned to the top 10 in the Super Bowl 2020 odds.  Now with the seventh-best odds, Philadelphia has overcome key injuries and tough losses to stay in play near the top of the league. However, are they capable of sustaining that success?

Super Bowl 2020 Odds

Team Odds
New England Patriots +275
New Orleans Saints +500
San Francisco 49ers +650
Kansas City Chiefs +900
Baltimore Ravens +1000
Green Bay Packers +1200
Philadelphia Eagles +1400
Dallas Cowboys +1600
Seattle Seahawks +1600
Los Angeles Rams +2000

Odds taken Nov. 4.

Against Chicago, the 22-14 score doesn’t tell the story of how lopsided the game was. The Eagles outgained Chicago with 373 total yards to Philadelphia’s 164. The time of possession was equally unbalanced, with the Eagles holding onto the ball for a total of 40:18, over two-thirds of regulation.

Prior to the victory over the Bears, Philadelphia had only the 11th-best odds to win the Super Bowl. They’ve hovered in-and-out of the top 10 this season, and after Sunday, the Eagles have re-entered that group. At +1400, they’re now at seventh, just behind the Packers, who have +1200 odds to win it all.

Eagles’ Worth Betting?

Sunday’s win was impressive, and at +1400 odds, there is some value in Philadelphia, but there’s also a few key factors that go against this team.

Primarily, they are still so beat up. The injury report has been a huge story all year for the Eagles, and they still have serious depth and leadership on the shelf. A who’s who of players in Philadelphia are dealing with injury issues, including Avonte Maddox, Miles Sanders, Tim Jernigan, Jason Peters, and Nigel Bradham, just to name a few. Every team must deal with injuries, but the situation is especially dire for the Eagles.

The remaining schedule for the Eagles is also a difficult one. In November alone, they still have matchups with both the Patriots and Seahawks. Should the Cowboys beat the Giants on Monday night, Philadelphia will remain in a one-game deficit in the NFC East, with a tough month ahead.

At the mid-point of the season, Doug Peterson and the Eagles have been able to hold everything together and remain in play for the division. However, with injuries mounting, it’s tough to envision this team playing into February.
