  • In  the Colts vs Vikings inactive and injury report, left tackle Blake Brandel is on IR while regular starting tackle Christian  Darrisaw (concussion) could return to the lineup
  • Vikings’ safety Harrison Smith (illness) was a full participant in practice, and could play Saturday
  • Colts’ starting corner Kenny Moore (ankle) is out for Saturday’s game

The Minnesota Vikings are fortunate one of their premium positions on the field will be properly manned when they take on the Indianapolis Colts in Week 15.

Left tackle Blake Brandel suffered a torn MCL in the Vikings’ Week 14 loss to the Detroit Lions. The swing tackle, who’s started the last three games protecting Kirk Cousins’ blindside, has been placed on IR.

So timing couldn’t be better for incumbent Christian Darrisaw (concussion) to be off the injury report and potentially back in the starting lineup.

The Vikings know that they need just a win to clinch the NFC North title. They’re a 4-point favorite in the Colts vs Vikings odds.

Indy’s currently riding a three-game losing streak with losses in six of the last seven, basically cooking their season.

Catch this game Saturday (Dec 17) at 1pm ET from US Bank Stadium, in a game you can see live on NFL Network.

Despite a 10-3 record, including a 6-1 mark at home, Minnesota is just 6-6-1 against the spread on the season.

That hasn’t stopped the betting public to hammer the Vikes in the NFL odds, both on the spread (84%), and even more on the moneyline (87%) in the NFL betting trends.

Indianapolis Colts Injury Report

The Colts lost a key piece to their defense, as Shaq Leonard underwent back surgery this week, and will be done for the year.

Perhaps the other significant losses are in the secondary, a unit that will need as many live bodies as possible to try and contain Justin Jefferson. He leads the NFL in receiving yards with 1,500, and has 25 catches for 20+ yards or more. He’s definitely a go-to pick for the Colts vs Vikings props.

Starting corner Kenny Moore, who plays opposite Stephen Gilmore, has been ruled out with an ankle injury. Safety Brandon Facyson (illness) missed practice Thursday and he’s doubtful for Saturday.

The best news is starting right tackle Braden Smith (illness) was a full participant in practice. Coming off a bye after missing the Colts’ Week 13 loss to the Cowboys, he should be good to go.

Minnesota Vikings Injury Report

Minnesota’s defense is dinged up on all levels of field. DT Harrison Phillips (back) and DE Danielle Hunter (neck) are both questionable for Saturday, as is linebacker LB Patrick Jones II (illness).

Cornerback Cam Dantzler Sr is also suffering through illness and is listed as questionable.

Safety Harrison Smith, who missed the Week 13 loss to the Cowboys due to illness, was a full participant at practice and should be available against Indy.

Offensively, center Garretty Bradury has been dealing with a back injury, while receiver Adam Thielen has been dealing with a lingering knee injury but was a full participant in practice Thursday. Both are expected to suit up Saturday.

How Can Injuries Affect Colts vs Vikings Lines?

While both teams are dealing with multiple injuries — as is basically every team in the NFL — the Colts and Vikings don’t have any players out that significantly alter the landscape.

If that’s the case, the talent of Minnesota should win out, or at least be a a stronger betting option. The Colts are just 5-8 ATS on the season, including a 2-5 ATS mark on the road.

I’m sure oddsmakers took into consideration that Minnesota has been leaking defensively, allowing teams to average 30.4 points in the last five games.

Still, there’s the possibility the line could move anywhere from a half to full point in favor of the Vikings, who have far more to play for than Indy.
