NFL quarterbacks took a big hit last week as it was announced Ben Roethlisberger and Drew Beers were injured. Big Ben is out for the remainder of the season while Brees will be out for six weeks. Following the injuries, books released a prop on which quarterback will miss a game next. Currently, they have Carson Wentz and Cam Newton as the favorites.

Who’s the Better Bet Between Wentz and Newton?

Carson Wentz and Cam Newton are the favorites to miss the next game, and rightfully so. Wentz left the Sunday Night football game, while Newton is not at practice.

Wentz is dealing with concussion protocol which means he will need to be cleared by the league before he can return. His injury is obviously more serious, and even let out his frustrations on the league.

“I was sitting there for about five minutes, and then they called down to go look at that,” Wentz said. “To me, that’s something they got to figure out. That’s super frustrating when I feel fine. I understand you got to look at that, and that’s part of the game, but the way it took so long, and then we finally went out on the field and I had to go to the blue tent, that was really frustrating, and I think the league needs to look at that.”

Newton, meanwhile, is dealing with a foot injury and his status for Week 3 is unknown.

At +600, they both have value, as both appear they could miss Week 3. Right now, I’d favor Wentz to miss the game due to the fact his injury is his head while Newton is just his foot.

Who’s the Best Bet?

I think Carson Wentz is the best bet to miss the next game. His status for Week 3 is unknown as he needs to clear concussion protocol and it takes time. However, the Eagles have not commented on his status, while Wentz believed he could have re-entered the game.

“I was frustrated, but I knew they had to do the protocol,” Wentz said. “So I just had to go through the concussion protocol and tell them where we were, what the date was, all that fun stuff, and I was fine and ready to get back out there.”

At +600, the value is on Wentz.

Pick: Carson Wentz (+600)

Are Any Longshots Worth Betting Here?

Right now, I do not think any long shots are worth betting as it appears either Wentz or Newton will miss Week 3 while no other quarterbacks are injured.

If you are in the camp that both will play, you could look at a team that is struggling and may look at a quarterback change like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Jameis Winston or possibly Andy Dalton in Cincinnati. But, for now, no longshots are worth betting.
