In Week 6 action, the Green Bay Packers host the Detroit Lions on Monday night for a very intriguing game. The Packers are looking to extend their winning streak while the Lions are looking to rebound following their bye week. Sportsbooks have released opening odds where they favor the Packers at home to get it done.

Detroit Lions vs Green Bay Packers Odds

Green Bay Packers -6

Will the Line Move?

I do believe the line will move ahead of Monday (Oct. 14’s) game. I believe the Green Bay Packers will be favored even more once bets start to come in on them. The Dallas Cowboys were supposed to be the real test for the Packers and they won the game with ease.

Against Dallas, Aaron Rodgers was rolling, throwing for 238 yards while Aaron Jones rushed for four touchdowns. The defense was solid with three interceptions and three sacks against the Cowboys. The sacks are what is really impressive given how good Dallas’ offensive line is. So, if Green Bay can do that to Dallas, they should be able to do that against Detroit.

I suspect the spread may go into the -7.5, to -8 range meaning the Packers will need more than a touchdown difference to win.

What’s the Best Bet?

Given I believe the spread will change, the best early bet is on the Packers.

Green Bay is rolling and have looked phenomenal, while the Lions have not. Detroit has allowed 499 rushing yards, 1,123 passing yards, and 10 touchdowns so far. The defense will need to be at their best to have success against Green Bay, which I doubt they will be. The Packers have rushed for 569 yards and passed for 752, so the running game will be a key to success for the home team on Monday night.

Detroit’s offensive line has also surrendered seven sacks, which will not be good for Matthew Stafford as Green Bay’s defensive line will be all over him and frustrate him early and often.

Lions head coach, Matt Patricia hoped they would use the bye week to fix costly mistakes. So, it will be interesting how they look.

“I think we’ve talked a lot about September football and what that looks like in the NFL,” Patricia said via detroitlions.com. “There are a lot of bad plays out there. There are some good plays and a lot of really important situational plays. I think those are the ones we’re trying to learn from.

“We’ve done well in some of those situations and we’ve done not so well in others. We can build off of that. We really are just working to eliminate the bad football – keep trying to get to good football, consistent football.”

Yet, I don’t believe they will be able to stop the Packers. So, if you are going to bet Green Bay for this game the time is not to bet them as I suspect the spread will change by a few points come kickoff.
