Aaron Rodgers and Matt LaFleur have been saying for weeks they were going to get Aaron Jones more involved. He’s clearly the Packers most explosive player, and it was an absolute farce he didn’t touch the ball more through the first seven games of the season.

Things changed in Week 8 when Jones saw a season-high 20 carries. It came as little surprise that he went off versus Buffalo after receiving so much volume, and he’s in line to do so again in Week 9.

We’ll be targeting Jones in the Packers vs Lions Week 9 player props, as his matchup this week is extremely favorable. At this point, Green Bay has to know the only way they’re going to snap their four-game losing streak is by feeding Jones the ball, so expect another heavy workload in Detroit.

Jones currently sports a rushing yards over/under of 65.5, which is 29 yards more than teammate AJ Dillon. It’s a number he’s cleared only three times all season, but there’s plenty of reasons to suggest he can get over that number on Sunday.

GB vs DET Prop #1: Aaron Jones Over 65.5 Rushing Yards

The Packers are 3.5-point road favorites, which suggests game script will be in their favor. Jones is fresh off 143 rushing yards against the Bills, who ranked number one against the run coming into the game. He averaged 7.2 yards per carry, and ranks fourth in the entire league in rushing yards per attempt among RB’s with at least 80 carries.

No one is saying Jones should get 30 carries like Derrick Henry, but 15 rush attempts and five to six targets should be his floor. At that number, he would fly over his rushing yards prop. He’s had 15+ attempts in three games so far this season, and has racked up at least 110 rushing yards in each.

As far as the matchup goes, it’s about as good as it gets. Detroit ranks last in total defense per DVOA, and 30th versus the run. They’re yielding 154.9 yards on the ground per contest, which is worse than all but two teams.

Pick: Aaron Jones Over 65.5 Rushing Yards ( -115), 1 unit

GB vs DET Prop #2: Amon-Ra St. Brown Under 72.5 Receiving Yards

This is not a slight against Amon-Ra St. Brown’s talent, but rather a bet on the Packers’ pass defense. Green Bay ranks ninth in pass defense DVOA, sixth in pressure rate, and grade out as the eighth-best coverage unit.

They just held Josh Allen to his second-lowest passing output of the year, and will surely have a plan to defend the Lions’ only explosive receiver.

Furthermore, Green Bay is completely exploitable against the run, and the Detroit staff is smart enough to recognize that. The Packers rank 31st in run defense DVOA, and allow the fourth most rushing yards in the NFL per game.

St. Brown hasn’t cleared this number since the third week of the season, and is averaging just 7.5 yards per catch over his last three outings.

Pick: Amon-Ra St. Brown Under 72.5 Receiving Yards (-115), 1 unit

Aaron Jones is the only player listed as an odds-on favorite to get a touchdown in the Packers vs Lions props.

GB vs DET Prop #3: Aaron Jones Anytime TD

Even with a ridiculously small workload, given his talent, Jones has still managed to find the end zone four times. That number is going to go up after Sunday’s matchup, as the Lions’ defense has been bleeding touchdowns.

Detroit is allowing a league-worst 32.1 points pre-game. That’s nearly a full touchdown more than anyone else, and Rodgers and the Packers are perfectly content to just run the football. Green Bay ran on 49% of its snaps in Week 8 and we should expect another run-heavy game script here as favorites.

The Packers receiving corps is decimated, which means they’re going to need to lean even heavier on Jones not only as a runner, but as a pass catcher as well. Fire up Jones in the anytime TD market, and take a stab at him to score multiple times.

Picks: Aaron Jones Anytime TD (-150), 1 unit, 2+ TD (+280), 0.5 units
