Tom Brady is going to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and life as they know it will never be the same for the New England Patriots.
Maybe so. But will life be that much better for the Buccaneers?
Oddsmakers aren’t sold on that concept. The sportsbook has created a head-to-head prop wager that asks the following question – which of these two teams will win more games during the 2020 NFL regular season?
Odds favor Brady’s old team, the Patriots, at odds of -130. You’ll get a +110 betting line if you opt to place a wager on the Buccaneers.
Odds Which Team Will Win More Games During 2020 NFL Season
Outcome | Odds |
---|---|
New England Patriots More Wins | -130 |
Tampa By Buccaneers More Wins | +110 |
Odds taken Mar. 19
New England has hit double digits in wins in each of the past 17 seasons. Tampa Bay has hit double digits in losses in seven of the past 11 seasons.
Buccaneers Seek Brady Bump
What is the value to an NFL team of Brady under center? That’s the question the Buccaneers will seek to provide an answer to this season.
Last season, with Jameis Winston taking snaps, Tampa Bay was 7-9. But Winston led the NFL in two categories that are polar opposites when defining success and failure. Winston passed for an NFL-best 5,109 yards. But he also tossed a league-high 30 interceptions.
One NFC head coach says Tom Brady in Tampa Bay is going to be a “nightmare” for the rest of the league because TB12 wants to prove he’s responsible for the dynasty:

Brady’s been picked off just 29 times over the past four seasons. His skill as a game manager, combined with the offensive talent already in place, should lead to improvement for Tampa Bay in the win column.
Bucs receivers Chris Godwin and Mike Evans both went over 1,000 yards in receptions last season. Ronald Jones rushed for 724 yards.
Patriots Will Have Chip on Shoulder
A team with six Super Bowl wins since 2000 will suddenly be cast in the role of underdog. You get the sense that Patriots head coach Bill Belichick might just be looking forward to life after Brady.
Undoubtedly, both will want to prove that they were the kingpin of the New England dynasty. If the Pats fade without Brady and the Bucs soar, that bodes well for the Brady camp. But if Belichick keeps the wins rolling in Foxborough, that genius label attached to him only fortifies.
This is why Belichick is the GOAT. He didn’t get sentimental. He’s not going to break the bank for a 43 year old quarterback who can’t take hits like he used to.
He runs that place like a machine. The Patriots will still be a force next year.

In 2008, New England went without Brady. He suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in a season-opening win against Kansas City.
With Matt Cassel at quarterback, the Patriots were 10-5 the rest of the way. But they lost a tiebreaker to Miami for the AFC East title and missed the playoffs.
Strength vs Strength
Odds peg New England’s win total at 9.5. The Bucs are set at nine wins. This season, Tampa Bay faces the 11th-toughest slate in terms of strength of schedule. New England’s schedule rates 26th overall.
There’s already talk of NFL free agents reaching out to the Buccaneers. There’s a strong desire to suit and go into action with Brady at the helm. Six Super Bowl rings tend to have that effect.

Ultimately, one question must be posed here, and the answer is obvious. How much money has doubting Brady cost you in the past?
Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+110)
