  • Sportsbooks list the Ravens second in their Super Bowl futures
  • The 8-2 Ravens are the only team to beat the New England Patriots this season

Everything about the Baltimore Ravens screams legitimate Super Bowl contender.

They are 8-2 and atop the AFC North. The Ravens are the only team to beat the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots this season. Baltimore is 3-1 straight up in games against other teams that would be postseason participants were the playoffs to begin today.

No wonder the Ravens have vaulted past every team except the Patriots in the 2020 Super Bowl odds.

Ravens Are Soaring

Baltimore isn’t just beating some of the NFL’s best teams. The Ravens are handing them soul-crushing defeats.

Sunday, they blasted the AFC South-leading Houston Texans 41-7. Two weeks earlier, they handled the previously-unbeaten Patriots 37-20. In the first eight games of the season, New England had surrendered just 64 combined points.

Baltimore went to Seattle and beat the Seahawks 30-16. Seattle is currently 8-2.

That works out to three wins by a total margin of 108-43 over a trio of teams that have posted a combined 22-7 record this season.

Defense No Longer Resting

Baltimore (2-0) is the only NFL team to reach multiple Super Bowls without losing the big game. In the past, the Ravens built championship squads around a punishing, unforgiving defense. This Baltimore team can put up points.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson is right there in the argument for NFL MVP. He can beat opponents with his arm (19 touchdown passes, 106.3 passer rating) or his legs (788 rushing yards, 6.9 yards per game, six TD runs).

The Ravens are the NFL’s #2 offense (426.8 yards per game), #1 scoring offense (341. points per game), and #1 rushing offense (203.8 ypg).

Suddenly, though, Baltimore is once again a defensive dynamo. The Ravens sacked Texans QB Deshaun Watson six times on Sunday.

They’ve moved up to 14th in total defense (332.9 ypg) and are now the #7 scoring defense (19.6 ppg). Baltimore has held four of its last five opponents under 20 points. The Ravens held Houston’s #8 scoring offense to seven points.

The additions of cornerback Marcus Peters and linebacker Josh Bynes helped stabilize this unit. They’re also an opportunistic bunch. Baltimore’s defense has forced nine takeaways in the past four games, returning five of them for TDs.

Is Baltimore Super Bowl Bound?

The Ravens schooled the Patriots. They whipped the defending Super Bowl champs in prime time on national TV, exposing weaknesses in previously-unbeaten New England. They won handily at Seattle, a place where visiting teams rarely escape without heartbreak.

Houston was coming off a bye, but with two weeks to prepare for Baltimore, was handed a 34-point setback.

The Ravens are equally as good at home (4-1) as they are on the road (4-1).  In a span of four weeks, Baltimore easily beat three of the NFL’s best QBs – Russell Wilson, Tom Brady and Watson.

The offense is spectacular, the defense is stifling and the special teams are also right there. Justin Tucker is the NFL’s most consistent (19-for-20) and longest kicker, and don’t think that doesn’t matter in a tight playoff game.

If you haven’t already bet Baltimore to win the Super Bowl, what are you waiting for?
