Vikings Offense on a Tear

Minnesota returns home after recording a convincing 42-30 win in Detroit as 2.5-point road chalk last weekend, extending its win streak to three going into Thursday night’s game at US Bank Stadium.

The Vikings offense has been dominant during the squad’s current win streak, averaging 36 points per game over their past three contests. That has produced positive results for loyal sports bettors wagering on Minnesota, which has also tallied three straight wins against the spread, and now sports a 5-2 ATS record on the season.

Minnesota’s offensive surge has been powered by quarterback Kirk Cousins. The former Redskins pivot has connected on four touchdown passes in each of his past two outings, and has averaged 325.7 passing yards over the past three games.

Minnesota Dominating on Home Turf

Home-field advantage has also been a real thing for the Vikings over the past year. Minnesota has posted SU and ATS wins in six of their past seven dates at US Bank Stadium, and has been dominant on both sides of the ball, claiming victory by double-digit margins in five of their six recent home wins while holding opponents to just 14.7 points per game during their 6-1 run.

Things didn’t go well for the Vikings the last time they were favored by 15 or more points at home. Minnesota dropped a stunning 27-6 decision to Buffalo as 16.5-point home chalk in Week 3 of last season. The team has covered in just two of four home games while favored by 15 or points since 1998.

Redskins on Verge of Freefall

The Redskins limp into Minnesota looking for answers after falling 9-0 as 10-point home underdogs in their Week 7 date with the San Francisco 49ers. While they came away from that contest with their second ATS win of the season, the Redskins have far from turned the corner following a dismal 1-6 SU start.

Washington has found the end zone on just two occasions over its past four games, with both scores coming in an uninspired 17-16 victory over the winless Miami Dolphins in Week 6.

The Redskins have averaged just nine points per game over their past four outings, and have fallen to defeat in five of their past seven road games.

Overall, the Redskins have averaged just nine points per game over their past four outings, and have fallen to defeat in five of their past seven road games. However, the team has covered the spread three times during that stretch despite scoring more than 17 points on just two occasions.

Keenum Leading Feeble Redskins Attack

The Redskins have used a trio of quarterbacks this season, with disappointing results. Former Vikings passer Case Keenum has carried the bulk of the load, and has connected on nine scoring passes in six appearances, but has averaged just 90 passing yards per game over his past three.

Dismal performances on Thursday Night Football have also been the norm for the Redskins, who have lost outright in five of six appearances since 2007, while scoring 14 or fewer points on three occasions.

Washington has also enjoyed little success against the Vikings, losing eight of 12 meetings since the end of the 1992 season, including a 1-3 SU record in their past four trips to Minnesota.

Picks: Vikings -16 (-109), OVER 42 (-109)
