The Green Bay Packers have opened as 4-point favorites in a Week 16 home date with the Tennessee Titans with potentially big playoff implications for both these teams.

The Packers took a huge step towards clinching the top seed in the NFC with a 24-16 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Saturday night, and ride a four-game win streak into next week’s Sunday Night Football matchup at Lambeau Field.

The Titans offense continued to roll in a 46-25 rout of the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon. Winners in their past three home dates, the Titans remain deadlocked with the Indianapolis Colts, but hold the edge atop the AFC South standings on tiebreakers.

Green Bay Lacklustre in Week 15 Win vs Carolina

The Packers turned in an ordinary performance in Saturday’s win over Carolina. Green Bay scored touchdowns on each of its first three possessions, but faded as the evening wore on. Tallying three or fewer yards on four of their six second-half possessions, the Packers scored just three points after halftime for the second time in five outings.

The offensive line didn’t provide Aaron Rodgers with much help, allowing him to get sacked on five occasions on Sunday after giving up just six total sacks over the team’s past eight contests. But a win is a win for the Packers, who can clinch the top seed in the NFC with a win over the Titans.

Packers Tough to Beat at Home

The upside for Green Bay is good health. The team saw running back Jamaal Williams leave Saturday night’s game with a suspected quad injury. The four-year veteran has been steady in a complementary role in the Green Bay backfield, topping 100 total yards on three occasions, and scoring three total TD. But with reports on Sunday indicate his injury is not serious, Williams is looking good to return to action next weekend.

Despite Saturday night’s rather lukewarm performance, which ended in the team’s fourth ATS loss in six outings, the Packers remain a powerhouse on home turf. In addition to winning four straight, Green Bay is also unbeaten in its past four on home turf, and sports a spectacular 14-2 record at Lambeau Field since the start of the 2019 campaign. The Packers have also dominated as small chalk at home, going 10-1 straight up and 9-2 ATS in their past 11 home dates while favored by five or fewer points.

Titans Bring High-Powered Offense to Lambeau

The Titans travel to the frozen tundra riding high following their dominant 46-25 win over Detroit as 8.5-point chalk. The win gave Tennessee a huge lift after falling in defeat in three of its past four home dates. However, the Titans have experienced no such struggles on the road, going 5-1 this season, and claiming victory by an average of 20 points per game in recent wins in Jacksonville and Indianapolis.

Derrick Henry has continued to power the Tennessee attack, keeping his pursuit of 2,000 rushing yards alive with 147 yards and one score against Detroit. Overall, the Titans have averaged 37.4 points per game while winning four of five, and have also regularly run up the score when battling Green Bay, scoring 47 or more points twice in four meetings.

Patience Could Pay Off for Titans Bettors

The Titans have enjoyed reasonably good health in recent weeks, even with the loss of DE Jadeveon Clowney to a knee injury. But gaining ground on the Packers at the sportsbooks ahead of a date under the lights at Lambeau Field is likely too much to ask.

Green Bay has not entered a home game this season positioned as anything less than a five-point favorite, and has enjoyed a spread favoring them by an average of nine points over their past four home dates. And barring any unexpected breaking news, any line movement is likely to favor the Pack, creating buying opportunities for loyal Titans fans later this week.
