Looking over the NFL Week 5 injury list, it’s been a week that got off to an inauspicious start for both the Denver Broncos (Javonte Williams, knee) and Indianapolis Colts (Jonathan Taylor, ankle). Any wonder then that it finished as 12-9 final, with the under paying off big time in the NFL odds?

The New York Giants were thrilled to learn that they’d had QB1 David Jones (ankle) available for their Sunday morning game in England against the Green Bay Packers.

Turning to the afternoon and evening action on the Week 5 NFL Sunday slate, there’s some big names that figure to be missing in action.

Buffalo is a whopping 14-point favorite over Pittsburgh in the Bills vs Steelers odds, but the favorites in the Super Bowl odds are going into this game thin in the receiving ranks. Three WRs – Isaiah McKenzie (concussion), Jamison Crowder (ankle) and Jake Kumerow (ankle) – are out, as is TE Dawson Knox (foot).

On the New England Patriots injury report, QB Mac Jones (ankle) will be out for the second week in a row as they play host to the Detroit Lions. With backup Brian Hoyer (concussion) also out, it means that third-stringer Bailey Zappe will be making his first NFL start.

The Lions are without RB D’Andre Swift (shoulder) and WR Jake Reynolds (ankle) and DJ Chalk (ankle). But WR Amon-Ra St Brown (ankle) is back in action after missing last week’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks. That’s big news in the NFL player props, because Brown caught 23 passes and scored three touchdowns over the first three games of the season.

NFL Week 5 Inactives

The only NFL team that’s a perfect 4-0 ATS this season, the Atlanta Falcons are 10-point underdogs against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Atlanta is missing two key offensive weapons in RB Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) and TE Kyle Pitts (hamstring).

Both the Tennessee Titans (Treylon Burks, toe) and Washington Commanders (Jahan Dotson, hamstring) will be without their top wideouts as they meet on Sunday. TE Logan Thomas (calf) is also out for Washington. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Eagles (Jake Elliott, ankle) and Arizona Cardinals (Matt Prater, hip) are going into their game minus their regular kickers.

Other NFL QB1s on the shelf include Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) and Dak Prescott (thumb) of the Cowboys. Key players who will active on Sunday include RB David Montgomery (knee) of the Chicago Bears, RB Alvin Kamara (ribs) of the Saints and WR Jaylen Waddle (groin) and Tyreek Hill (quad) of the Dolphins.
