The see-saw affair between the Edmonton Oilers and Vegas Golden Knights continued on Wednesday night, with the Oilers drawing even at two games apiece. Though the series is tied, apart from Game 1, the contests haven’t been particularly competitive, with two four-goal victories and in Game 4, Edmonton won 4-1.

Things got nasty at the end of that affair, with Alex Pietrangelo slashing Leon Draisaitl, and Darnell Nurse fighting Nicolas Hague. Nurse was dinged with an instigator penalty, and as such, has been suspended for this pivotal upcoming duel. Pietrangelo also received one game up in the press box for his actions.

Edmonton began this series as a -150 favorite to make the Western Conference Finals for the second straight season. Now that the series is knotted up, they’re -170 to advance to their second straight Western Conference Finals. Read on for Oilers vs Golden Knights analysis.

Edmonton Oilers Betting Analysis

The Edmonton Oilers bounced back in a big way in Game 4, scoring three goals in the first period and easily controlling Vegas for a 4-1 victory. They got some much needed secondary scoring, with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins potting his first of the postseason, along with markers from Nick Bjugstad, Mattias Ekholm and Evan Bouchard. The latter leads all NHL blueliners with 15 points.

Another one of their d-men, however, won’t be available for this game, with the aforementioned Darnell Nurse suspended. That’s a critical loss for Oil Country, as he leads all defensemen in ice-time for the squad.

After Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl were both held off the scoresheet in Game 3, they picked up three assists between them. Goaltender Stuart Skinner also recovered after being pulled in in that battle, the second time that’s happened in the postseason.

Edmonton has won ten of their last twelve road games, though they did drop Game 1 in Vegas. They’re 3-2 away from home this playoffs.

Vegas Golden Knights Betting Analysis

The Golden Knights are a difficult team to figure out – either they dominate games, or they get blown out of contests. All but one of their six postseason wins has been by at least two goals – but they’ve dropped three skirmishes 5-1, 5-1 (in Game 2), and 4-1 (in Game 4).

The Knights are no strangers to a good old-fashioned bounce back – they’re 4-1 in their last five games following a loss of three or more goals.

Vegas is fortunate that star blueliner Alex Pietrangelo was suspended for just Game 5, and not for more. He leads their backend in points and ice-time for the postseason.

The Golden Knights are 10-1 in their last eleven after scoring two goals or less in their previous game.

Oilers vs Golden Knights Pick & Prediction

Bettors believe that Vegas will put a 3-2 series strange hole on the Oilers, with 60% of moneyline bets placed on them thus far. Our model has this Oilers vs Golden Knights game going the road team’s way 3.66-3.57, however. That’s an implied winning probability of 54.3%.

With each team trading victories in the last seven duels this season, that would point to Vegas taking this one. Getting them as a home underdog is a bonus, with their record of recovering from defeats.

Pick: Vegas Golden Knights Moneyline (+110), Under 7 Goals (-135)
