It’s Arsenal vs PSV in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, October 20 at the Emirates Stadium. It all kicks off in North London at 1:00pm ET.

The Gunners need just a point to secure their place in the knockout phase from this game that was originally postponed due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. A win for PSV would edge them closer to the next phase of the competition.

Arsenal vs PSV Prediction

Arsenal, after a flying start to the season, faced one of their toughest tests so far at the weekend when they visited Leeds United. But, despite coming under intense pressure for long spells, they again departed with three points from a 1-0 win. A first-half thunderbolt from Bukayo Saka, a missed penalty, and some heroic defending was enough to earn three valuable points on a controversial afternoon at Elland Road.

In addition to all of the above, Arsenal had center-back Gabriel red-carded for a clash with Patrick Bamford, only for the referee to overturn his decision after being advised to consult his VAR screen.

Seven Wins on the Spin for Arteta’s Gunners

The win in Yorkshire saw the Gunners open up a four-point lead at the top of the EPL – a position they also hold in Group A of the Europa League where, so far, they have collected nine points from nine. The away win against third-placed Bodo/Glimt last week means they are just one win away from topping the group or a draw away from ensuring qualification for the knockout stages.

Manager Mikel Arteta has overseen a run of seven straight wins in all competitions, and in their last nine home games they have scored a minimum of two goals in each.

PSV Win Four on the Spin

PSV are on a similar trajectory to Arsenal, making this a clash of two of Europe’s most in-form teams. The Boeren have won their last four games and, having scored a grand total of 11 goals in their last two, couldn’t be better prepared for what will be their toughest test of the campaign so far.

After beating FC  Zurich 5-0 last week in the UEL to consolidate second place in Group A, they followed it up at the weekend with a thumping 6-1 win in the Eredivisie. They sit in second place in their domestic league, just a point behind league leaders Ajax.

Qualification in Sight for Van Nistelrooy’s Men

A win at the Emirates for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men would open up a six-point lead between themselves and third-placed Bodo/Glimt with three games to go, but with them still having to travel to Norway, their qualification for the knockout phase can’t be confirmed in North London.

PSV have played Arsenal six times before in Europe – all of them in the Champions League – but across all of those games have only scored three times. They did however eliminate Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal from the 2006-07 tournament with a 2-1 aggregate win.

Arsenal vs PSV Team Lineups and Injuries

Arsenal Projected Lineup: Turner, White, Holding, Gabriel, Tierney, Xhaka, Partey, Saka, Vieira, Martinelli, Nketiah.

Arsenal vs PSV Pick

Arsenal appear unstoppable right now and that’s not making them attractive to the bettors. However, it’s worth noting that Arteta uses this tournament to give game time to some of his fringe players.

PSV’s incentive to pick up points here is arguably greater than Arsenal’s and so, for me, there is value in wagering on the draw.

Pick: Arsenal and PSV to draw (+305)
