Pick 1: Borussia Mönchengladbach vs Hertha Berlin
Mönchengladbach’s 2-0 midweek defeat by Real Madrid in the Champions League was only their fourth of the season but thanks to Shakhtar Donetsk’s draw with Inter Milan they still qualified for the knockout stages of the tournament. In the Bundesliga, they sit in seventh with a 4-4-2 record and so are still well placed to also challenge for a place in next season’s UCL.
Last time out in the Bundesliga they drew 2-2 away at SC Freiburg and so will be hoping to use home advantage against Berlin to get back to winning ways. Games involving Borussia have tended to be quite high-scoring of late and in their last 12 games, 22 goals have been scored at either end. They are also on a good run at home – unbeaten in eight – and are unbeaten by Hertha in their last two Bundesliga meetings.

Hertha Berlin head into this game off the back of a 3-1 Bundesliga win over Union Berlin and also following a mini-run of two away games without defeat – the most recent being a highly creditable goalless draw in Leverkusen. They currently sit in 12th place ahead of Bundesliga Matchday 11 with a 3-2-5 record that has seen them concede more than they have scored.
Worth considering is the draw at +265 but a better bet, for me, is over 3.5 goals at +150.
Pick: Over 3.5 goals (+150)
Pick 2: Borussia Dortmund vs VfB Stuttgart
After dropping two points last weekend in a 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt, BVB bounced back well in midweek with a 2-1 away win against Zenit St Petersburg in the Champions League; a result made all the more impressive by the fact they had already qualified for the knockout stages.

With a 6-1-3 record, Dortmund is currently fourth in the Bundesliga, just four points adrift of Bayern, but even at this relatively early stage of the season will not want a clear gap to open up between them and the league leaders. Worth noting though is that BVB’s win over Eintracht was their first win in four games and they have struggled a little in front of goal without the services of the injured Erling Haaland.

Stuggart has become the draw specialist, with their 3-5-2 record showing they have drawn as many games as they have collectively won and lost, including three on the bounce on Matchdays 6, 7, and 8. The run was broken by a 3-1 home defeat by Bayern but they responded well last weekend with a good 2-1 away win in Bremen.
BVB typically start as odds-on favorites here, but given Stuttgart’s ability to earn draws from tricky games, the +335 on offer is worth considering.
Pick: BVB and Stuttgart to draw (+335)
Pick 3: FC Union Berlin vs Bayern Münich
Bayern dropped a rare two points last weekend in their 3-3 home draw with RB Leipzig but continued their great form in the Champions League in midweek with a win against Lokomotiv Moscow. They still dominate the Bundesliga – albeit their current lead is just one point – and are favorites to regain their Champions League crown, so are unsurprisingly odds-on favorites for this trip to play Union on Bundesliga Matchday 11.

Union, meanwhile, had an unhappy time last weekend when they made the short trip across the capital to play Hertha but their 3-1 defeat in the Berlin derby was only their second loss of the season. A 4-4-2 record reflects a really positive opening third of the campaign for the Eiserne, and they have a genuine hope of a top-six finish this season.

But this one is a very big ask for Union, who would happily take a point, and it’s hard to see anything other than an away win. On that basis, a better bet may be a repeat of the score when these two met in the same fixture last season.
Pick: Bayern Munich to win 2-0 (+750)
