Arguably the best rivalry in CONCACAF will take center stage on Sunday evening in Las Vegas as Canada locks horns with the USA in the Nations League final. The kick-off between these two foes is scheduled for 8:30 PM ET at Allegiant Stadium.

The USMNT convincingly beat Mexico in the semis by a score of 3-0, but there was no shortage of controversy with four players in total sent off. As for the Canadians, they took care of Panama behind goals from Jonathan David and Alphonso Davies.

The States are slightly favored at +105 for the showpiece while Canada comes back at +250. The Americans are the reigning champions, having won the first edition of the tournament back in 2021. As for recent meetings, Les Rouges secured a 2-0 victory over their rivals in January of 2022 at BMO Field but prior to that, the US were unbeaten in three games.

Canada vs USA Preview

It’s been quite the last six months for Canada. They made their second-ever appearance at the FIFA World Cup and now have the chance to play for a major CONCACAF trophy. Although things didn’t go to plan in Qatar with three defeats, John Herdman’s side showed their capabilities on the global stage and undoubtedly opened some eyes.

Since the World Cup, the Canucks are unbeaten, notching three wins in a row. The first two came in the group stages of the Nations League against Curacao and Honduras, which set up the semifinal with Panama. Jonathan David quickly put his side ahead in the 25th minute with a classy finish before Davies, who came on as a second-half substitute after missing time with an injury, belted a screamer to seal the deal.

The States were undoubtedly the class of CONCACAF in Qatar, making it to the Round of 16 before tasting defeat against the Netherlands. Since then, the Yankees have lost just once in six games, grabbing victories against El Salvador, Grenada, and Mexico.

The Americans truly ran riot on the Mexicans Thursday and it clearly irked them. Christian Pulisic was the star of the show with a brace, while Ricardo Pepi put the fixture out of reach in the 78th minute. Drama ensued before and after Pepi found the back of the net though, with Mexico mostly to blame for the violence that took place. In the end, though, the USMNT got the last laugh and can now win their second Nations League title in a row.

Canada vs USA Projected Lineups & Injuries

Canada Projected Lineup: Borjan; Johnston, Miller, Vitoria, Adekugbe; Laryea, Eustaquio, Davies; David, Larin, Buchanan

Injuries & Absences: N/A

USA Projected Lineup: Turner; Scally, M. Robinson, Zimmerman, A. Robinson; Musah; Weah, De la Torre, Pulisic; Balogun, Pepi

Injuries & Absences: McKennie, Dest

Davies should get the start here for Canada, while you can expect Atiba Hutchinson to come on as a substitute for his final appearance for the country. As for the States, they will be without Weston McKennie and Sergino Dest, who were both given red cards on Thursday.

Canada vs USA Prediction

This is a tough one to call. McKennie and Dest are important figures for the Americans, but they still have a plethora of talent. Canada tends to struggle when it comes to big matches however and although I do believe it’ll be close, the USMNT should pull this one out in Sin City.

Pick: USA moneyline (+105)
