Pick 1: FC Barcelona vs Juventus

With both teams already through to the knockout phase, all that’s left to play for, in theory, is Group G’s top spot which brings with it a more favorable seeding in the draw for the round-of-16. In reality, Barca has this already sewn up as their goal difference is seven goals better than Juve’s, so, it is pride at stake at the Camp Nou with the chance for both coaches to experiment with fringe players or different formations.

For Barca, the journey to the knockout stages has been imperious. Five wins out of five, 16 goals scored and only two conceded represents an almost perfect campaign; one that has been in stark contrast to their La Liga season that sees them languishing down in seventh place – 12 points behind leaders Atletico Madrid. At the weekend, they lost 2-1 away at Cadiz but, so far, coach Ronald Koeman has been spared too much heat due to their successful UCL campaign.

Juve’s season has followed a similar pattern, with their only defeat so far in 2020-21 being the 2-0 home defeat by Barca on UCL Matchday 2. They have however drawn more games than they have won in Serie A – four wins, five draws – and, as a result, find themselves down in fourth place behind the two Milan and Sassuolo.

So, a tricky one to call given that both coaches are likely to not field their strongest XIs, but with Barca still in plus money for the home win, it’s simply an offer too good to miss.

Pick: Barcelona to win (+115)

Pick 2: RB Leipzig vs Manchester United

While Group G is cut and dried, Group H is anything but, with Manchester United, PSG and RB Leipzig are all tied on nine points. But with PSG playing bottom-of-the-table İstanbul Başakşehir, this RB vs United tie has the feel of a one-off cup final for a place in the knockout phase.

After an Old Trafford defeat at the hands of PSG, United are now staring down the barrel but they do have some decent away form to fall back on, including a fine 3-1 away win at West Ham in the EPL on Saturday. There’s also the not-so-small matter of that 2-1 away win against PSG on Matchday 1 of this UCL campaign, which demonstrates perfectly their ability to pick up good results away from Old Trafford.

RB Leipzig moved level on points with PSG and United after beating Istanbul Basaksehir away last time out and, having made it to last season’s semifinal, will be desperate not to miss out on this season’s knockout phase.  But they have a massive psychological disadvantage to overcome – namely losing 5-0 in Manchester in the reverse tie. For me, this massively tips the balance in United’s favor and makes the +150 on offer look decent value.

Pick: Manchester United to win (+150)

Pick 3: Lazio vs Club Brugge

While BVB look to have their place in the knockout phase assured, second place in Group F is still very much up for grabs. Lazio is currently in the box seat for that spot but an away win here for Brugge would see them leapfrog the Italians. Equally, Lazio can still win the group if they beat Brugge and BVB do not claim all three points in St Petersburg, or if Lazio draw and the Germans lose in Russia.

While the Italians start the game odds on for the win, let’s not forget the reverse fixture ended 1-1 on October 28, and Brugge also won on the road in the UCL on Matchday 1 when they traveled to Zenit. They will need to reach that same level again in Rome and while it is hard to bet on the away win, they have proven themselves able to perform away from home.

Brugge will also be buoyed by the fact the Biancocelesti have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last 16 Champions League group games, but what counts against them is that the Italians know a draw will be good enough. For me, that brings the draw into play, and the +275 on offer represents excellent value.

Pick: Lazio and Brugge to draw (+275)
