Pick 1: Liverpool vs Manchester United
United head to Anfield on Sunday with a three-point lead at the top of the EPL after winning their game in hand over Burnley in midweek. This represents a huge turnaround for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men who, let’s not forget, were beaten 6-1 at home by Tottenham early in the season; a result that triggered a lot of soul searching in and around Old Trafford.

A few factors have contributed to United’s remarkable turnaround, not least the resurgence of Paul Pogba who, alongside the always excellent Bruno Fernandes, has provided a consistent and energetic engine room for Solskjaer. Also, the form (and pace) of Eric Bailly alongside Harry Maguire has provided some much-needed defensive solidity.

Liverpool, for their part, have done well to contend with a terrible injury crisis while still maintaining a title challenge. Injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip have hampered their fluidity but they have managed to pick up enough wins to stay in touch. Oddly they too, like United, suffered a one-off horror show when they lost 7-2 at Aston Villa.
So, while United will come into this EPL Matchday 19 match with huge belief, they have struggled in high-profile matches this season – their recent 2-0 loss to neighbors City in the League Cup semifinal being a perfect example – but have enough about them to grind out a draw, which is where the value lies.
Pick: Liverpool and Man Utd to draw (+285)
Pick 2: Sheffield United vs Tottenham Hotspur
Sheffield United’s disastrous season took a positive turn this week when the Blades finally won a game. Their 1-0 home win over Newcastle was their first of the season and, while it will have given them a massive boost, they still find themselves rooted to the foot of the EPL table and nine points adrift of safety.

Tottenham’s season has been steady if unspectacular and despite drawing too many games, including a 1-1 draw at home with Fulham on Wednesday, they remain in the Premier League title race – just six points behind the leaders, United. Manager Jose Mourinho has changed the Spurs ethos and with the style now being more pragmatic than expansive, this Tottenham team is more solid than those of the recent past.

Interestingly, over the last six games between these two teams, there have been two wins each and two draws and United have not been beaten by Spurs in the last three. Given that the Blades come into this EPL Matchday 19 match with renewed belief and Tottenham off the back of an underwhelming draw, it is hard to ignore the +525 on offer for the home win as it implies only a one in six chance of a United win, Given their recent history, the Blades have a much better chance than that, so, for me, this offers some excellent value.
Pick: Sheffield United to win (+525)
Pick 3: Fulham vs Chelsea
Fulham’s delayed start to 2021 due to a COVID-19 outbreak in their camp has seen them play just once since Boxing Day. But this week’s 1-1 draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium suggests the enforced break has re-energized the Cottagers in their relegation battle. It was a game they could, possibly should have won.

In fact, Fulham have drawn each of their last five league games – against Liverpool, Brighton, Newcastle, Southampton and Tottenham. They’ll head into this West London derby in EPL Matchday 19 with genuine belief, especially with Frank Lampard’s Chelsea in a difficult place right now.

The Blues were victorious last time out – a comfortable 4-0 in the FA Cup against League Two Morecambe – but have lost two of their last three in the league, including a comprehensive 3-1 home defeat to a weakened Manchester City. Chelsea have actually only won one of their last six in the EPL and have dropped to ninth position in the table, 10 points behind leaders United. As a result, do not write off the chances of Fulham making it six draws on the bounce.
Pick: Fulham & Chelsea to draw (+310)
