Matchday 23 will feature three fixtures on Tuesday and another seven on Wednesday. PSG will take on ninth place Nantes in one of the more intriguing matches, while Marseille will look to secure another three points against bottom of the table side Saint Etienne.

Both PSG and Marseille are unbeaten in their last five matches, but the latter still sits 12 points behind Thomas Tuchel’s side. Rennes is also just three points back from Marseille in third spot.

Pick 1: Lille vs Rennes

This clash on Tuesday could be one of the most tantalizing fixtures of Matchday 23. Rennes is just six points ahead of Lille in third place, so it’s a very important match for both sides. When the two met back in September, they played a to a 1-1 draw.

Lille have won just two of their last five matches, while Rennes has lost just once in their last five. Lille will be looking to service Victor Osimhen up top as much as possible, with the Nigerian bagging 11 goals this season to this point. Rennes has conceded just 21 goals this season, which is third-best in Ligue 1. However, they have conceded seven goals in their last three matches, so Lille will be hungry to create as much havoc as possible on the attack.

Given Rennes solid form as of late though, they should be able to secure the three points and extend their lead over Lille in third place. Striker Mbaye Niang will need to get his scoring touch back though for Rennes, remaining scoreless in his last four appearances. However, he leads the squad with eight goals to his name this season.

Pick: Rennes 1-0

Pick 2: Monaco vs Angers

The 12th and 13th place teams in Ligue 1 will face off mid-week, with a Monaco win taking them ahead of Angers and potentially into the top ten. It’s been a disappointing season once again for Roberto Moreno’s side, but it has been more productive than their 17th place finish last year. The former Spain boss took over just before the new year but their form hasn’t necessarily improved, winning just once in their last five matches. They have bagged an impressive 37 goals this term which is second to just PSG, but they concede far too often, letting in 39 goals.

Angers doesn’t score nearly as often but they have conceded a lot less, sitting just one point ahead of Monaco currently. They have lost just once in their last five, with three of those fixtures being draws. When these two sides last met in December, they tied 0-0 in Angers. This time, Monaco will play host.

It’s going to be very important for Angers to slow down Ligue 1 leading scorer Wissam Ben Yedder, who has netted 15 times this season. However, I believe Monaco will feed off the home atmosphere and secure the full three points in this match.

Pick: 2-1 Monaco

Pick 3: Stade Reims vs Nice

Once again, two sides that are currently tied in the table in points will clash in an important match. Stade Reims and Nice are currently stuck on 32 points apiece, in 7th and 8th spot, respectively. Nice has been in great form lately, going unbeaten in their last six matches. They also defeated Stade Reims 2-0 back in November. Reims have struggled against Nice in recent memory, winning just once in their last eight matches against them.

Reims have also won just one home fixture since December 8. Given Nice’s torrid run in their last handful of matches, Patrick Vieira’s side is a safe bet in this match on Wednesday.

Pick: Nice 2-0
