Monaco ran out as 2-1 winners in their last meeting with Lille. But, the two games prior ended in draws.

Over/Under & Spread

The over 2.5 goals at -145 odds is the possible money-maker. It’s been comfortably hit in five of the last six encounters between these two French rivals.

Lille vs Monaco Analysis

It hasn’t been the best start to the campaign for the 2020-21 Ligue 1 champions, currently sitting in seventh place with just 19 points through 11 games. Paulo Fonseca’s side is just four points off a Europa spot at the moment though, which is a good sign. After all, there is loads of time left in the season.

Lille comes into this clash in fine form as well, winning two in a row while scoring four times and keeping back-to-back clean sheets. Matchday 11 was a three-goal victory versus Strasbourg, with David once again proving to be the star of the show. The talisman has nine goals to his name already, which ranks second behind only Kylian Mbappe.

Monaco is just above Lille in the Ligue 1 standings with 21 points thus far. While they did lose 4-0 in Europa last Thursday, Philippe Clement’s men are unbeaten in six league outings, one of the most impressive runs across France at the moment.

While the last time out was a stalemate with Clermont, Monaco previously beat Montpellier, Nantes, Stade Reims, and even Lyon. The backline has been rock solid as well, conceding just 14 times all term and only twice in the previous four domestic fixtures. It’ll be interesting to see if they’re able to slow down David. Up front, Breel Embolo will be looking to keep firing on all cylinders, having already netted five times and providing two assists.

Lille vs Monaco Team Lineups and Injuries

Lille Projected Lineup: Chevalier; Zedadka, Diakite, Djalo, Ismaily; Martin, Andre Gomes; Weah, Cabella, Bamba; David

Injuries & Absences: Fonte, Andre, Virginius

Monaco Projected Lineup: Nubel; Vanderson, Disasi, Maripan, Henrique; Golovin, Matazo, Fofana, Minamino; Ben Yedder, Embolo

Injuries & Absences: Aguilar, Geubbels, Camara

The notable absences here are in Lille’s squad. Jose Fonte and Benjamin Andre are key for the hosts defensively and will surely be missed in a critical match.

Lille vs Monaco Prediction

I do think Monaco should be able to take advantage of the depleted backline for Lille, but given the form of both sides and the history of draws, I’m liking both teams to take away a point here.

Pick: Draw +255
