And they have already won European silverware this season after claiming the Super Cup against Europa League winners Chelsea in a 5-4 victory on penalties in Istanbul in August following a 2-2 result.
Genk were Belgian champions for the fourth time in 2018-19 and earned automatic entry to the UCL group stage for the first time.
However, after previous entries in 2002-03 and 2011-12, they have yet to win a UCL group stage game – a total of 15 attempts including this season’s fixtures.
They have met EPL opposition only once when they were beaten by Chelsea 5-0 away and then drew 1-1 at home in the 2011-12 UCL group stage.
