  • Sportsbooks are offering over/under points totals for the big eight in the EPL
  • Liverpool on course for record-breaking EPL title win
  • Spurs on a downward spiral and -115 to get less than 60 points

With the EPL now almost a third of the way through the season, some sportsbooks still have eight enticing team bets available for the total number of points these teams can accumulate by next May.

Most are on offer at around -115, with a few small variations, but we’re going to look and see if there’s any easy money to be made.

Liverpool to Get 94 Points or More (-110)

The Reds already look on course for their first-ever Premier League title and their first English league title win since 1990. A controversial 3-1 win over Man City at the weekend, at Anfield, has opened up a massive nine-point gap over City and an eight-point-gap over Chelsea and Leicester, who are second and third respectively on 26 points.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have so far dropped just two points – in their 1-1 draw at Old Trafford with Manchester United – and have looked imperious. They appear well on course to improve on their 30-7-1 record of last season and even ignoring the stats, they appear to be a team that knows it’s on course to finally win (again) the trophy that’s regarded on Merseyside as the Holy Grail.

Jurgen Klopp, while of course trying to win every competition, will pay extra attention to the Premier League, maybe even at the expense of the Champions League, so we can expect there to be no let-up in the Reds’ intensity. In finishing second last season they scored 89 goals at an average of 2.3 per game and are rattling along at the same rate this season but crucially, this time around, they are averaging 2.8 points per game, compared to 2.6 last season.

They ended up on 98 points last season. I expect them to be in treble digits by May.

Leicester City to Get 70 Points or More (-115)

The Foxes have started the season on fire and in terms of attitude, there are similarities between this Leicester team and the one that won the Premier League title back in 2016. In fact, there’s an argument that says this Leicester team is better and certainly there is no debate over this one being more pleasing on the eye.

Claudio Ranieri’s Class of 2016 were functional and efficient but didn’t attempt to retain possession, relying instead on the lightning pace in the team to hit teams on the break. It was a style of play they were excellent at using and no-one that season was able to counter it.

The Class of 2020, under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers, have a different style, one based on retaining possession and playing fluid, creative soccer. However, there is one main common denominator: Jamie Vardy.

The ex-England striker has been in outstanding form this season and has thrived off the service provided by an inventive midfield, spearheaded by James Maddison. The Foxes are a joy to watch, are scoring plenty of goals and are happily ticking along at over two points per game. On this form, they will smash the 70 point mark.

Tottenham to Get 60 Points or Under (-115)

Spurs are on the slide and it looks and feels as if all the good work of last season, where against all the odds the north Londoners made it to the UEFA Champions League final, is slowly unraveling.

Despite making a couple of summer signings, most notably Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon, Tottenham have had an awful start to the season which followed on from an underwhelming end to their last Premier League campaign. Back then it was attributed to the Champions League semifinals and final taking precedence over their league games but looking back it probably hinted at a deeper malaise within the club – one that’s now been laid bare.

For as long as they have Harry Kane leading their attack, Spurs will always score goals – they’ve scored 18 in their 12 games so far – but they have serious problems in defense and have conceded 17 times. The once-solid trio of Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderwireld and Davison Sanchez have been anything but and at the weekend, for example, only a dodgy VAR decision prevented them from losing at home against newly-promoted Sheffield United.

Off-field issues have filtered through to on-field performances, including rumors around Christian Eriksen’s desire to move to one of the Spanish giants, and right now Spurs look a shadow of their former selves.

As things stand, it’s hard to see them breaking the 60 point barrier this season.
