Over/Under and Spread

Caesars have listed over 2.5 goals at an unappealing -130 but the flip side is under 2.5 goals available at evens.

Neither offers good value as a standalone bet given that Robert Lewandowski is on a one-man scoring spree at the moment, but could be made more attractive by linking to the result.

Sevilla vs Barcelona Prediction

Expectations in Sevilla are high after finishing fourth in La Liga in each of the last three seasons and it’s worth noting that in finishing third last season they were only three points behind second-place Barcelona.

However, the early signs suggest this could be a much tougher campaign for Julen Lopetegui’s men.

With just a single point on the board so far, Los Nervionenses find themselves down in 15th, which isn’t ideal. Alongside their domestic competitions, in the next few months, they also have to juggle a grueling Champions League campaign.

Disastrous Start for Los Nervionenses

Sevilla’s La Liga campaign opened in disappointing fashion with a 2-1 defeat away at Osasuna, and then a week later, as they looked to get their first win of the season in front of their own fans, managed only a 1-1 draw with Real Valladolid.

A trip to newly-promoted Almeria at the weekend proved even more disastrous when they were on the receiving end of a shock 2-1 defeat.

To compound their problems, Lopetegui’s team have not beaten Barca in the league since October 2015, although they should gain some confidence from the fact this equivalent fixture last season ended in a 1-1 draw.

Lewandowski on Fire for Barca

Barcelona dropped two points on opening day when drawing 0-0 at home with Rayo Vallecano but haven’t looked back since.

In week 2, they traveled to San Sebastián to play Real Sociedad and came away with an outstanding 4-1 victory – goals from Robert Lewandowski (2), Ousmane Dembele, and Ansu Fati – and at the weekend they beat Real Valladolid 4-0 at the Camp Nou.

Lewandowski was again on the mark with another brace; Pedri and Sergio Roberto also chipped in with a goal apiece.

Real Madrid in Barca’s Sights

Despite ongoing financial problems, Barca still managed to spend lavishly in the summer with, in addition to Lewandowski, five new faces arriving to strengthen Xavi’s squad, including Raphinha from Leeds United.

Barca fans, as a result, will be hoping they are able to again challenge Real Madrid after ending last season trophy-less – a rarity for the Catalans.

Last season they finished second in La Liga but a massive 13 points behind the winners Real Madrid, so will be desperate this time around to stay in touch with Los Blancos.

Sevilla vs BarcelonaTeam Lineups and Injuries

Sevilla vs Barcelona Pick

The home side’s problems so far have been in defense and with their collective discipline, and both will be tested to the limit against Barca.

With Lewandowski hitting form, it could be a long 90+ minutes for the home side, and it’s hard to make an argument for anything other than a Barcelona win.

Some value here can be found in combining the number of goals scored with the away win.

Pick: Barcelona Win and Over 2.5 Goals (+170)
