Women’s World Cup Political Props: Will the USWNT Be Invited to the White House? Will Obama Attend the Match & More
- The USWNT face the Netherlands in Sunday’s Women’s World Cup final
- The US will look to defend their WWC title
- Sportsbooks are offering a series of props relating to how events might unfold if the Americans are successful in achieving that outcome
One sportsbook lists the United States Women’s National Team as -222 favorites to defeat the Netherlands on Sunday and successfully defend their Women’s World Cup title. But that’s far from the only wager it has to offer regarding the USWNT.
The sportsbook has put forth a series of prop wagers relating to situations that could arise if the Americans retain their World Cup crown.
Will US President Donald Trump invite the team to the White House? Might any team members show up if invited? Is Trump going to tweet about US midfielder Megan Rapinoe and her very public anti-Trump stance?
There’s also several props covering what other prominent American dignitaries might do in order to recognize the team and its accomplishments.

If these were normal circumstances, you’d say that Trump finds himself between a rock and a hard place when it comes to the USWNT. If they win on Sunday and he chooses not to recognize their achievement, it’s a bad look. But then you remember that normalcy in the Oval Office went into absentia the moment that Trump took the Oath of Office.
Women’s soccer player, @mPinoe, just stated that she is “not going to the F…ing White House if we win.” Other than the NBA, which now refuses to call owners, owners (please explain that I just got Criminal Justice Reform passed, Black unemployment is at the lowest level…

Here’s a bold prediction on a play here – Trump will definitely offer Twitter kudos to the USWNT if they win, along with some self-serving tripe about how great he is. At the same time, he’ll take a backhanded swipe at Rapinoe. So bet yes on both Trump wagers.
As to the rest of these wagers, they’re all slam dunks. Of course Obama, Clinton and Ocasio-Cortez will tweet out congratulations to the team upon victory.
AOC has already invited them to visit the House of Representatives.
Consider it done @AOC 🥳

Team co-captain Rapinoe said they’d go.

The team has already announced that it won’t be presenting Trump with a national team jersey with his name on the back as they did for Obama in 2015. The USWNT did visit the White House after their previous World Cup victory.
On the 50th anniversary of Stonewall, Megan Rapinoe leads team USA to a win over France, after repeatedly saying that as a queer woman, she won’t visit the White House because Donald Trump is a bigot.

If you’ve taken anything from watching this World Cup, it’s the bond that the USWNT share with each other. No one is about to break out of the group, go rogue and visit Trump on their own.

Either they all go, or none of them will go. And no is the play to make on both of these wagers.

Though Obama did welcome the USWNT to the White House after their 2015 win, it’s unlikely he’ll be in France for Sunday’s final.
Trump has already announced he’s sending a six-member all-female delegation to represent him at the game.
No is the play here.
