After a week of tennis in Qatar, the finals are here, and Garbine Muguruza and Petra Kvitova will take to the court tomorrow morning at 10:00 am EST.

It’s no surprise that either player are here, as both of them were amongst the top 10 favorites in the odds to win the tournament outright coming in. They were actually tied in fifth with +900 odds.

Neither player has really been challenged in the tournament so far, and will definitely look to be each other’s toughest opponent.

Take a look below to see how both players got here, and what we can expect from this match.

Muguruza’s Road to the Finals

The Spaniard will be heading into the finals on Saturday with an extra days rest, having not played her semifinal match. Her opponent, Victoria Azarenka had been battling a back injury that came up in the tournament, and she unfortunately had to withdraw from the match.

But Muguruza has had a very solid tournament so far, as she heads into the final match as the favorite. She had a slight hiccup in her round of 16 match where she dropped the second set against tournament favorite, Aryna Sabalenka. But she managed to come back and take control of that third set for the upset win.

She’ll definitely be looking to avenge a 2018 Doha finals loss to Kvitova this year, and maybe that extra day’s rest will allow her to do it.

Kvitova’s Road to the Finals

This will be the third finals appearance in four years at this tournament for the Czech, as she’s proven very comfortable here. Kvitova eased past her semifinal opponent, American Jessica Pegula, in a dominant straight sets win, 6-4, 6-4, in just 78 minutes.

She managed 26 winners, with the same amount of unforced errors. Despite the high number or unforced errors, she still managed to hold off Pegula, and gather six breaks. Pegula herself saw her run come to an end when she had 28 unforced errors and only 17 winners.

Over the course of the tournament, Kvitova only dropped one set in her quarterfinal match against Anett Kontaveit, and a total of 23 games over three matches.

Head-to-Head

This will be the sixth time these two players have faced each other in their careers. Kvitova currently leads the head-to-head 4-1. Muguruza won their first meeting back in 2015, but since then it’s been all Kvitova. Their last meeting came in the finals of this competition in 2018, where Kvitova captured the title in a come from behind three set win.

Muguruza vs Kvitova Best Bet

Kvitova is looking to repeat her 2018 win over Muguruza as they take to the court tomorrow morning. She actually has more wins here in Qatar than any other player that was competing in the tournament this year.

This has all the makings for a tight match between the two. It really could go either way. I would say that Kvitova is playing slightly better this week, and her success here is undeniable. But at the same time, Muguruza does have something to prove, and that sometimes is all one needs.

Despite the Spaniard being the favorite, I think the success and experience will allow Kvitova to take home another title.

The Pick: Kvitova (+130); 2-0 (+300)
