The Brazil 2014 World Cup Group C could be one of the most evenly zones in the entire tournament, with Colombia, Ivory Coast, Greece and Japan fighting for two spots to the next round.

Colombia is the head of the group because they had a sensational qualifying stage in South America, and ended up in the first eight spots, in the FIFA World Ranking.  The Colombians have two problems, first they haven’t been in the World Cup since 1998, and second, their main star, Radamel Falcao, is injured and speeding up his recovery to be ready for June.

Falcao has been one of the main scorers in the world over the last two years, and there was many expectations about him for this tournament, but with the injury so close to World Cup, his form could be questionable.

Ivory Cost has been in the last two World Cups, failing to advance the second round in the both Germany 2006, and South Africa 2010.  To be fair with them, this is the first time they draw a decent group as in the previous two editions they were part of the death group.

Greece won the European Championship in 2004, but since then, they haven’t done anything in the soccer world.  They have never advanced from the group stage in a WC, including in South Africa 2010.

Japan advanced to the round of 16 twice, once in 2002 when they were the co-host and in 2010, when they were eliminated in penalty kicks by Paraguay.

These are the betting odds for the World Cup Group C:

To Qualify

Colombia (1/3), Ivory Coast (1), Japan (5/4), Greece (5/2)

Not To Qualify

Greece (6/17), Japan (3/5), Ivory Coast (4/5), Colombia (3)

To Finish Bottom

Junes 14 | Colombia (7/10) vs Greece (96/19), Draw (14/5)

Junes 15 | Ivory Coast (9/5) vs Japan (19/10), Draw (23/10)
