The USA team needs a victory to consolidate their momentum in the World Cup qualifiers as they face Panama, this Tuesday at 10 PM ET at CenturyLink Field.

Costa Rica, Mexico and the United States are tied in the first place with seven points; Panama is right behind them with six; this is a crucial match for both.

USA won in their visit to Jamaica and Panama tied with Mexico in the same night. Jermaine Jones won’t play against Panama due to an injury.

“We obviously take things seriously, we don’t want to do anything risky,” head coach Jurguen Klinsmann said at a press conference on Monday. “So we’ll just be cautious and keep him out tomorrow night’s game, and he will be back for the game in Salt Lake City.”

Panama won’t have striker Blas Perez either, who is the most dangerous player in that team.

“It’s a huge game. We badly want three points in this game and then obviously next week in Salt Lake,” Klinsmann added. “Those are home games and they are must wins.”

Panama has two draws at home (Costa Rica and Mexico), and they need to take some points out of their visits to the States and to Costa Rica that will come in the next few games.

United States needs a victory to keep their great pace, but Panama is not an easy team to beat.

A victory of the USA team against Panama pays -250; a ‘canaleros’ upset pays +600, and a draw is listed +300.
