Of the ten games on the slate Wednesday, you can see in the MLS Week 12 odds above that the Red Bulls and LAFC are the biggest favorites at almost -200 odds. The Red Bulls host Chicago who are in the worst form in the league with zero points in their past five. Fire games also average the lowest goals-per-game in MLS. They are the only team whose games average fewer than 2.0 (1.9) goals per game. Something to consider for totals bettors.

Nashville SC vs CF Montreal Best Bet

After their 2-0 road win in Charlotte on the weekend, CF Montreal has risen to the top of the Eastern Conference standings with 20 points. They’re tied alongside Orlando and Philadelphia with 20 points, but hold the overall top spot and are quickly rising up the MLS Cup odds heading into MLS Week 12.

Montreal is now unbeaten in eight at 6-2-0. That clean sheet in Charlotte was their first of the season. They had previously conceded in every single match. But they haven’t failed to score in a game since way back on opening day.

Considering Nashville played their opening eight games on the road, a 4-3-4 record and eighth in the West is impressive. They lost 2-0 in yet another road game last weekend in Houston. But in their first two home games at the brand new GEODIS Park, they drew 1-1 and won 2-0.

Nashville games are not known to be high-scoring and therefore we’re able to get a better than average price on the Both Teams to Score market, among the many ways to bet on soccer in this match. In fact, Nashville leads the league in Under 2.5 game totals, tied alongside Philadelphia at 8-3. Montreal is the exact opposite, sitting at 8-3 to Over 2.5 totals. Something has to give.

Luckily, even if this ends 1-1 we can still win and grab even-money odds.

San Jose Earthquakes vs Portland Timbers Prediction

This MLS Week 12 game pits San Jose, 12th in the West, at home to Portland, ninth, in one of two 10:30 pm EST games on Wednesday night.

Only four teams in the West have played to more games Over 2.5 totals this season than to Under. That’s low. That’s a lot of Unders. But San Jose, along with Montreal and New England have been filling the pockets of Over bettors at 8-3. Their games have the highest goals-per-game average at 4.1 in all of MLS.

Saturday’s match in Vancouver was another wild one, this time ending 3-3. It was the sixth time in their past seven matches that at least three goals were scored. Five of those have seen three-plus goals, as well as goals from both sides.

Portland has struggled to score this season and are 7-5 to the Under. But their offense exploded on Saturday in a 7-2 win over Sporting KC. Sebastian Blanco opened his season account with four goal contributions, adding two goals and two assists. Nathan Fogaça also made his debut for the club and made an instant impact with his first two goals in MLS.

Across their past ten overall head-to-head meetings, there have never been fewer than at least two goals combined. Portland is also undefeated in their past seven meetings.

Portland on the road has kept just one clean sheet in eight matches, so San Jose at home, should get theirs. But if the Timbers offense continues where it left off on Saturday, against another shaky defense in the Earthquakes, we may be watching plenty of goals in this one late into Thursday morning.

MLS Week 12 Parlay Picks

Let’s group together two games to make a little New York parlay.

DC United vs New York City SC Pick

New York is hot. They’re undefeated in five after Saturday’s 2-0 home win over Columbus. “Home” is the key word. They’ve almost exclusively played in New York, albeit at different locations. Each of those past five matches have been in New York, so too have seven of their ten overall matches. On the road though, they lost 1-0, drew 0-0, and lost 2-1. Now, those first two came at the start of the season and when they were still in the CCL. So NYCFC on the road this season is still a bit of an unknown commodity.

After a four-game losing streak, DC is now 2-1-1 in their past four, drawing 2-2 in Miami on the weekend. They’ve only kept one clean sheet in their past eight matches.

New York may win, but at the very least they should find the scoresheet. New York to score is going into this parlay.

New York Red Bulls vs Chicago Fire Pick

The Red Bulls failed to extend their road winning streak to six games this weekend after drawing the Union 1-1. But they did maintain their undefeated streak, which now sits at five.

New York is one of the stingiest defensive teams in the league, having only allowed nine goals. Meanwhile, Chicago has only scored eight goals. After fighting back to draw level with Cincinnati last weekend at 1-1, FCC re-took the lead just minutes later to deal Chicago a devastating loss. The Fire are last in the East at 2-4-5, have now lost four straight, and are winless in seven.

This will be the second match of the season between the two teams with the Red Bulls earning a 2-1 comeback win against Chicago on April 30.

New York already beat Chicago 2-1 at Soldier Field this season back on April 22. Now they’ll face the Fire at home. It doesn’t matter the season, Chicago is bad on the road. They have three wins on the road in their past 33. I’ll back a Red Bulls’ win.
