There have been a plethora of birdies flying this week at the AT&T Byron Nelson, and moving day was no exception. Sam Burns shot a three-under, 69 to post a three-day total of 20-under-par, the lowest through 54 holes ever at this championship. Should he stumble on Sunday, there are many big names lurking ready to pounce, including major champions Jordan Spieth and Charl Schwartzel who are just three behind.

Before the tournament began, Burns was among the favorites to win the trophy, with +3500 odds to win his second straight event. Should he seal the deal, he’d be the first golfer since Camilo Villegas in 2008 to win his first two PGA Tour events in back-to-back starts.

With poor weather expected Sunday, tee times have been pushed ahead with the leaders teeing off at 10am eastern time and in threesomes. Split tees will also be in effect, with the tournament trying to finish before heavy rains and lightning ravage the course. Read on to see the updated odds and best bets entering Sunday morning’s final round of the AT&T Byron Nelson.

Sam Burns Poised For Second Straight Win

For a few years Sam Burns tantalized with his vast potential, but was never able to convert plenty of 36 and 54 hole leads into victories. That is, until two weekends ago at the Valspar Championship when he emerged with a three shot triumph. He’s back at it again in Texas, posting rounds of 65-62-69 with just two bogeys through the first three days.

He’s first in strokes gained tee-to-green, third approaching the green and seventh in SG: around-the-green through three rounds and firing on all cylinders. He’s also posted ten straight rounds in the 60’s for individual play, so he’s going to be very difficult to beat now that he knows how to win.

Four of his last five final rounds have also been in the 60’s. While his current odds of +135 aren’t overly enticing, he’s showing no signs of a letdown on the final day.

Best Live Value Picks for AT&T Byron Nelson

  1. KH Lee (+500): We were high on KH Lee to be a first round leader this week because of his recent strong play. He’s going for his first PGA Tour victory and he owns a T-2 this year in Phoenix this year so he’s had experience in the heat of the battle. Lee has shot 65-65-67, with just one bogey all week. He’s also third in SG: tee-to-green and he’s just one shot back of top spot.
  2. Alex Noren (+1400): Alex Noren will begin Sunday in a tie for third after being in the final group with Burns on Saturday. He’s third this event in strokes gained putting, which should give him plenty of looks for birdies on a soft golf course. Though he’s never won on the PGA Tour before, he has winning pedigree, having lifted ten trophies on the European Tour.
