Strong positioning on the starting grid has proven to be a key to success during the first season of Marbula One racing, with the winner coming from among the top five qualifiers in four of the first six races on the circuit. That trend is reflected in wagering on Sunday’s Razzway Grand Prix, with the odds of this weekend’s winner coming from the among the front six on the grid pegged at -120 in the Marbula One odds.

Marbula One – Razzway Grand Prix Pole Position Odds

Team Pole Position Over Odds Under Odds
Race Winner 6.5 -120 -120
Hazers 8.0 -120 -120
Savage Speeders 7.0 -120 -120
Team Galactic 8.5 -120 -120

Odds taken on Mar. 27.

Strong Qualifying Producing Race Day Results

A marble holding the pole position has yet to roll to victory in Marbula One action so far this season, but the front row remains well represented, with the marble starting from the No. 2 spot earning the win on three occasions. However, the brakes were put on that trend last weekend as Snowy powered Team Snowball to victory at the Short Circuit Grand Prix with a stunning run from the No. 12 spot on the grid.

Snowy’s spectacular run last weekend also marked the Racers’ Championship Standings leader’s second trip to the podium this season. But with strong performances in qualifying proving to be key to success on race day, the odds of this weekend’s winner starting 11th or worse on the starting grid sit at a distant +550.

Marbula One – Razzway Grand Prix Props

Prop Yes Odds No Odds
Will Any Marble Fail to Finish +200 -300
Will Two Marbles Make Contact During Final Lap +225 -350
Will Winner Record Fastest Lap +300 -500
Will Winner Come from Pole 10 or Higher +550 -1000

Savage Speeders Poised for Strong Start

The Savage Speeders enter the weekend perched atop the Marbula One Teams’ Championship Standings, holding a narrow five-point lead over the second-place Hazers. The European squad has built its lead on the strength of three podium finishes, accomplishing that feat while qualifying among the top six on just two occasions. But after starting from the front row last weekend, the Savage Speeders sport -120 odds of starting better than seventh on Sunday.

The Hazers have produced much more consistent results in qualifying, starting from the front five on five occasions, including three straight starts from the No. 5 position, and are a solid -120 bet to qualify better than eight. Third-place Team Galactic opened the week as the favorites to win this season’s Marbula One Team Championship. The Brown and White have struggled in qualifying in each of their past two outings, including last weekend’s start from the back row, are expected to see that trend continue this weekend with -120 odds of qualifying ninth or worse.

Marbula One – Razzway Grand Prix Lead Change Odds

Prop Total Over Odds Under Odds
Total Lead Changes 4.5 -120 -120
Lead Changes During Final Lap 0.5 -120 -120

Late-Race Lead Changes Rare

It proved to be a close two-way race at the Short Circuit Grand Prix before Snowy took control over the final four laps. For the first 10 laps, Team Primary’s Prim, which started from the pole for the second time in four races, ran neck-and-neck with Savage Speeders’ Speedy before being overtaken by Snowy. That resulted in seven lead changes over the course of the race, the second-most so far this season.

This weekend’s race is expected to feature considerably less suspense, with -120 odds favoring there to be UNDER 4.5 lead changes for the fourth time this season. In addition, the marble holding the lead entering the final lap has rolled to victory in each of the first six races to date, adding value to the -120 odds of there being no lead changes during the final lap of this weekend’s Razzway Grand Prix. That has also fed strong -350 odds of no two marbles making contact with each other during the final lap.

And despite the steady trend towards fewer lead changes in the late laps of this year’s Marbula One races, only once has the race winner also recorded the fastest lap. That trend is expected to continue at the Razzway Grand Prix, with the odds of the race winner gaining the extra point for fastest lap pegged at a lengthy +225.

Picks: Race winner pole position UNDER 6.5 (-120);  Savage Speeders pole position UNDER 7.0 (-120)
